RE: Big East expansion odds
i don't see anyone from the ACC moving to the BE. If/when the ACC loses members they will likely regroup and add UConn USF, Tulane and San Diego St (now have northern and southern California members) If they need more than Memphis comes into play.
If the BE HAD to expand right now and be done for some reason (like a breakaway)
SLU
Dayton
Gonzaga

I know it's not a popular choice but i think Richmond should be considered

I agree.

But Wichita State will more than likely be in the BE when the dust settles.

When UConn leaves the BE, Doug Gottlieb's prediction of Wichita State and Dayton to the Big East will cap that conference at 12.

Doug Gottlieb can note what he would like to see. But that doesn't mean it will happen. But when he posts Wichita makes "zero sense" in the AAC, I suppose he either 1. doesn't know or 2. purposely overlooks the fact that Wichita shared the Missouri Valley Conference years ago with Tulsa, North Texas and Memphis. So there is a "history" of sorts that yields (to an extent) a "makes sense" for both WSU and the AAC.

Wichita State would, indeed, be a good fit in the Big East — in some ways. But, overall, it would not "make sense," and particularly compared to other candidates. VCU, for example, would be a much better addition to the BE if the league wanted a public university. Better geography. Better academics. Better overall potential to shine in the Big East. GoldenWarrior11 has clearly and effectively posted regarding this subject in general (and about Wichita specifically).

I do see Wichita State ending up in the Big East...

...on the same day Doug Gottleib gets his dream job of being named OK State's head men's basketball coach.

The big east or AAC should add St Louis U ASAP. I always liked UMASS to the big east and let them grow into a power but that’s probably the issue, the other big east schools don’t want UMASS to become a power…I mean I would add St. Louis, Gonzaga and UMASS to the big east for 14 and VCU to the AAC for 14.

Big East doesn’t need to expand

Inventory is not as important in basketball as football because they’re so many more games in basketball vs football.

Also the big East is by far the best non football playing basketball conference.Theres a bigger gap between the big East and the a10/wcc than the sec and the b12. The Daytons and the St. Louis of the world will always be willing to leave.

They’re dying a slow death in the weakening non-fbs/non-multi-TimeZone conferences. You must have some pity for them??03-nutkick

Great fan support, albeit in a sub-8k arena (would be smallest regular home arena in the BE - not counting Gonzaga). Solid, not great, media market in Richmond. Not an institutional fit from a Private standpoint, but if UConn remains in the league long-term, a fellow public school could be beneficial for league dynamics.

There are no realistic resumes to consider beyond those four programs.

FWIW, there is a 16k seat arena set to open 10 minutes from VCU in 2026.

Zero. May they rot.
