After testy call Mexican president shelves plan to visit White House - TechRocks - 02-24-2018 08:52 PM Quote:Tentative plans for Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to make his first visit to the White House to meet with President Trump were scuttled last week after a testy call between the two leaders ended in an impasse over Trump’s promised border wall, according to U.S. and Mexican officials. RE: After testy call Mexican president shelves plan to visit White House - SoMs Eagle - 02-24-2018 08:56 PM I guess they think it will work and they will have to pay for it. Peña Nieto’s style is exceedingly formal, and he is averse to verbal combat, making his carefully scripted public events the opposite of Trump’s often freewheeling appearances. I imagine Nieto would prefer something like this: RE: After testy call Mexican president shelves plan to visit White House - shere khan - 02-24-2018 09:18 PM (02-24-2018 09:15 PM)TechRocks Wrote:Quote:A physically slight man, Peña Nieto has been loath to put himself in an environment in which the more imposing Trump could play the bully. A buffoon bowing to the mayor of Tampa. Quote:"The mayor of Tampa isn’t a Third World potentate, totalitarian dictator, or terrorist leader so I can’t understand why Obama would be in full-bow mode," a post on the conservative blog Red State read. "Is bowing now the standard way the President greets people these days?" He's really good at dealing with hurt feelings and fragile emotions." Yeah, I thought he just meant socially, like importing undocumented dims. Seems he also meant transforming the DOJ and FBI. Or if it's needed. All the electronics and drones in the world can be turned off in a minute. Wall? Yea, try to champion legislation to bring it down. Let's get this done. Keep the fence jumpers outta here. Put in a nice pearly gate, one that can be closed and locked when needed as well. RE: After testy call Mexican president shelves plan to visit White House - Zombiewoof - 02-25-2018 08:58 AM Serious question -- do you guys really believe that spending over $25 billion to construct a partial wall along the southern border of the US is the best means of dealing with illegal immigration from Mexico (and Central America)? Do you believe that the best solution to the undocumented non-citizens among us is to "deport them all?" And to those claiming to be conservatives, do you feel those solutions best represent the principles of conservatism? And to those claiming to be conservatives, do you feel those solutions best represent the principles of conservatism? The fence systems of San Diego and El Paso work well, and in other places. What is the cost of illegal immigration annually, depressed wages, crime prison rates, public school systems flooded with illegals? And to those claiming to be conservatives, do you feel those solutions best represent the principles of conservatism? You didn't answer the questions. I agree that walls or fences can have some effect in more densely populated areas of the border. To answer your question though, I don't know the cost of illegal immigration, but it is way too high to be left untreated. I am asking if you believe that these sound-bite solutions are the most efficient and effective means of dealing with these serious issues or might other alternatives be a better way to solve some of this? I would also like to see responses to the last question of my post.
