go ian!

RE: Ian Happ - AZBCAT - 03-29-2018 11:55 AM

And hits a first pitch home run to right field.

RE: Ian Happ - jarr - 03-29-2018 12:18 PM

Wish the Reds could have traded up to get him. Does anyone expect Tyler Stephenson to make much of an impact? I just dont think Billy Hamilton is ever going to be able to produce with while batting 235, I think he is gone next year anyways. Happ would have been a nice option for CF or Left with Duvall moving to Center.

RE: Ian Happ - Lush - 03-29-2018 12:20 PM

i don't mind billy. i think the ground he covers makes him an asset

He needs his OBS to be closer to 350 and I just dont ever seeing that happening at this point. His defense is great.

Billy Hamilton is what he is. I think he's a good 5th outfielder because he's an elite defender and could be used as a pinch runner late. I think the ship has sailed on him ever hitting.

Why does a thread celebrating a Bearcat in MLB get ruined by talking about the pro team in Cincinnati?

RE: Ian Happ - Nobones - 03-29-2018 02:02 PM

Loved that UC team with Him and Glass on it.

I too was hoping the Reds could get him. I think with all the trading/drafting the Reds have been doing for catchers - took 2 in the Rule 5 draft last year and traded for Tim Wallach's son, I don't think they are high on Stephenson any more.

Or bunting...

Unbelievable.

He still has trade value...

Didnt Stephenson have some sort of injury? I think he is still in low A ball so may never pan out. Wish they could better develop farm talent instead of overpaying for players like Bailey and Hamilton.

I think the could be attractive to certain teams as a middle of the lineup hitter/pinch runner/bench player, but not as.the lead off the Reds tried to turn him into. They my as well try to get something for him while there is still a market.

A Reds team with Hamilton as one of the top 3 OFs is not one that has the sufficient resources to make the playoffs.

RE: Ian Happ - bearcatmill - 03-29-2018 06:03 PM

Congrats to Mr Happ. Another Baseball Bearcat making waves in the MLB. Glad he didn’t go to the Reds and to a contender.

Overpaying for Hamilton? Did he sign a new contract that I didn't see?

Umm, you can't trade regular picks in the MLB draft.

RE: Ian Happ - Banter - 03-30-2018 08:20 AM

Its so hard cheering for Happ when he plays for the Cubs, but I am glad he has been doing well.

RE: Ian Happ - Def Berkkat - 03-30-2018 08:32 AM

A few years back in a game at Ohio St., he swung and his bat flew out of his hands into the stands. It hit me right in the leg.

I am honored.
