it was just announced a couple days ago. I saw them once (dirty projectors opened) and it was an awesome show. So much energy and so many fans singing along. It was a pretty big standing only venue and there was absolutely no room. we were packed in.

I don't know if he'd like them, it's hard to say. I love how they're experimental, but not too much so. They just do a decent amount of genre bending, with some crazy lyrics to boot. I look at them as like the black version (except for dave sitek) of radiohead, except really good. Goes without saying i'm not a fan of radiohead.

Anyway, if i had to make suggestions about where to start if he hasn't listened to them, i'd say go with The Method, Wolf Like Me, Love Dog, Dancing Choose and maybe Golden Age. I'd probably work backwards because their more accessible music is also their most recent

you think so?? it's hard to say an album, cause they've soo many early ep's and sh!t. but return to cookie mountain is full of gems. my fav tune is "province" followed by "yr god" -not off the same album. they obviously are influenced by radiohead, one of their early albums is called ok calculator, which i'm sure you know. i'm sorta in the same boat with radiohead as you are, though i do enjoy them, just not fanatically as a lot of folks are. i like the bands they (radiohead) influence though, especially sigur ros. seeing tvotr in a more intimate setting right against the speakers is f*cking spiritual

i can't speak on all the early EP's, because i'm not 100% familiar with them. I'll agree that cookie mountain has a certain raw power, that dear science and it's refined aesthetic doesn't have. That's not a criticism of either record, merely an observation. I agree that Province is an awesome song, it's haunting yet uplifting and beautiful at the same time. BTW, I was listing the most accessible tunes, not the best. If we were talking best, i'd have a different list (Lover's Day and it's awesome last minute and a half of drumming would be up there on my personal list).

And yeah, i'm familiar with OK Calculator.

I wish they weren't going to be at Radio City, because I don't think that's the best venue for what they offer, but what can i do? I'll see the show regardless
