I totally agree. However, a smart person is aware of their surrounding at all times. Especially if you see a group of thugs. The best thing to do is to look them straight in the eye and tell them "What's up". That way they know you are aware of them and not afraid of them. It always works for me.

Ummm....how do you know they're a "group of thugs" just by looking at them? It sounds like you're doing some profiling.

What is wrong with profiling?

If I perceive a group of people to be potentially dangerous to me or my family you better believe that I'm going to make sure that they don't see me as a victim.

Common self defense practices teaches that criminals will go after a person that looks the most vulnerable.

That is why I say it is a good idea to make eye contact and acknowledge their presence.

You dodged the question. How do you determine, based on someone's appearance, whether or not they're a threat?

If I see a group of kids hanging out at the store. Walking down the street or something like that. I'm going to assume that they pose a potential threat.
