The PS4 has a native zoom-in feature for the vision impaired which I've been using to read tutorials, documents, quest descriptions, dialog options, inventory descriptions, etc. But it's kinda tedious stopping to zoom and then pan over to the text every time you need to read something

There was a pretty early patch that fixed all of that...I never had issues. Are you fully up to date on software updates? Go to the configuration menu and up the HUD size to large, I believe that's how it changes.
