It's not petty. It's financial. UCONN simply doesn't have an extra $10 Mil lying around to pay out a terminated contract. UCONN tried to settle with Ollie in an amicable split, where he would step down on his own accord (apparently in the $5 Mil range). Ollie wanted to keep coaching. He thought he was the new Calhoun, could dictate his tenure, and had the AD by the nuts. If he cared that much about his alma mater, he would have done what was in the best interest of the program and stepped aside for a very fair sum.


Well boo hoo.... Nobody has an extra $10Mil lying around for that. If UConn didn't want to pay that money they should never have committed to so much in the first place. That excuse is not going to fly here or anywhere.....

If KO did enough to get the contract voided then good for you, but "Sorry dude, we don't have the money in petty cash" is not a reason to dishonor the contract the UConn agreed to.
