I think it is SFW. Not necessarily something you would want to read, shows that there is a lot to be completed in Iraq still.

Yep, it simply is amazing we are so concerned about their "rights" that they do not have.

We should adapt them at Guantanimo.

moral equivalency

that is exactly why we shouldn't, as a nation, legalize enhanced interrogation methods...im sorry, torture. we, as a nation, should be morally above it.

Wow, so let me gt this straight. You would rather keep them to using their "enhanced interrogation" and just say we are above it rather than attempt to get needed information out of known TERRORISTS that could protect our homeland? I guess my previous statement was 100% true.

Tell me, what's the point of following the Geneva Conventions, essentially an agreement on what is and what is not acceptable in warfare, if you're the only f'n side that participates? Intelligence HAS been obtained by these "enhanced methods", and sorry, when it comes between protecting troops on the ground and your conscience; I'm siding with the troops on the ground. The insurgents we have detained are either at Guantanamo, or other locations alive, well-fed, and reading their US-provided Qu'ran's. NONE of our troops kidnapped come back.

The problem with torture is that you don't necessarily get correct info. If the person doing the torture believes the person they are torturing has info they will torture them until they get the info they want. As the person who is in intense pain, you end up saying anything to stop the pain. Thus, many times (quite possibly more often than not) you end up with information that means nothing.

Say what you want about John McCain, but the guy went through actual torture and he's against The US using it. Besides, the lunatics in Iraq probably aren't torturing for information, they are just sick mofos trying to intimidate the populace.

Al Qaeda = real torture(see handbook), and this is stuff I think all americans including the President and Darth Vader(cheney) are against.

US Enhanced Interrogation Methods (waterboarding, sleep deprivation, loud music, barking dogs) does not equal or even close to the same tactics used as these barbarians. There is no moral equivalency between the two.

if a such thing as 'moral authority' exist in war, then the US has it in a no contest.

sleep deprivation(in most cases), loud music, barking dogs arent torture. those arent even close.

but how sad is it that, as americans, we have to reason out that our brand of torture isnt as bad as their brand of torture. IT"S ALL TORTURE!!!!!!! there is no moral high ground on that issue....on 99.9% of issues, yes, we have the moral authority....why should we lose it on this issue when even General Petraeus concedes isnt helpful or needed. Ignore Robert al-N. He's just mad because it was his torture manual they found and put on the internet.

He's worried Osama will be upset with him. 05-nono

I get so angry that we are trying to fight a politically correct war with people like this. How can we expect to win by playing nice, when they do things like this. We need to get serious or get out.

we dont have to fight like they do because we are america. we are better than them and the rule of law is a(not the only) main reason. we are better people than them, there is no debate on that. why let the rest of the world debate it if it isn needed based on the statements of even the commander on the ground. from what ive read, general petraeus is the perso we need there now. he seems like a pragmatist who understands what is going on and what needs to be done. lets just pray he can do it.

Easy for you to say when you're not the one fighting them.
