The Tidewater area is Williamsburg, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach.

William & Mary (Williamsburg) is school of choice in the Tidewater area. They currently play Division 1AA.

It sounds like Old Dominion (Norfolk) is adding football. It is fair to assume they will be playing Division 1AA football in the CAA.

Richmond is in Central Virginia. Although Richmond is an excellent school, they have no interest in moving up to Division 1A. Their stadium is small (but very cool).

Actually Williamsburg is not in Tidewater but the Peninsula Area.
ODU is starting football in 2009 and will is already a member of the 1-AA CAA. The only way they go 1-A is if the whole confernce goes 1-A.

UR is downsizing its FB program and is in the progress of building a 10,000 seat on campus facility.

If you want to expand from within the present conference than I would like Notre Dame, G-Town, DePaul, and I suppose St. John's to all move to D1A (no offense ND).

Notre Dame and DePaul would be close for UofL. I like Washington D.C. and St. John's would make a nice trip to NYC.

But when pigs fly to the moon will that happen.

Richmond is an hour away from Williamsburg and Williamsburg is 20 miles from Newport News and Hampton, which are both on the Peninsula. I have lived there for many years and Newport News, Hampton and Williamsburg are considered to be Tidewater! Richmond is not!
