Perhaps the drugs have something to do with the outbreak and are relevant to the story. Interesting that the kid assumed it was something in the drugs that made him see the zombies. The dealer was going to kill him, so maybe he knew about it.

RE: OT: The Walking Dead
Some thoughts from last night

I hate mom, already. Please die before the end of the season thanks.

I think someone might have cleared the church prior to dad getting there to search. I'm sorry but with all the noise there would have been some reply if there were a walker in there. Calvin cleaning the van..... Wonder if he paid the church a visit and took care of the problem. There was obviously no way out of the church considering they made it a point to show the front being locked up and the window being the only way in.... To me I think someone cleared it and the addict left behind may have been scarred by witnessing whoever was in there taking out the walkers

Nick stole the episode, great actor. Mom, not so much... Oh look dude gets shot, dude gets run over... and run over again... Still lives. No reaction from mom whatsoever. come on, I'd be freaked out.

I bet there's going to be some drama with Dad trying to get his other family.

Can't wait to see where the development of the fat kid goes, I think he'll be around for a bit.

Sorry I can't recall all of their names

Really enjoyed all of the hidden messages... The Nature always wins topic in class, the "you better be dead" text from girlfriend to boyfriend

I don't think so because the fat kid from the school had mentioned that there were reports in five states already

I seem to recall Kirkman stating that even in this show the cause of the outbreak wouldn't be revealed, unless I'm remembering wrong...if that's the case we'll never fricken know

Pretty sure calvin wanted to kill nick because he was unstable and his parents just showed up looking for him, he was visited by the cops in hospital...Cal was afraid of nick snitching

I remember reading Kirkman saying that as well. Also, that is how I took Cal's actions. As far as the Fat kid (I think his name was tobias) he was the only person thinking smart. He took the knife to school for protection because he knew the reports were holding back details. The stupid mom really expects the government to tell them what is really happening. As far as I know there is no outbreak of anything right now and I still don't trust the government to give us full details on anything but especially not something that could cause mass panic where civilians could make everything worse.

I had no problem with it being slow and expected it. It had to develop all of these characters that we don't know anything about. I do expect the next episode to pick up the pace, especially after the "vehicular walkerslaughter."

We are all sitting there like get out of the car and shoot the zombie in the head, but they are all wondering what the hell is going on, and how this guy can continue living. It will definitely show how easy it is for something like this to get out of hand quickly.

Definitely agree. To your point about wanting them to get out the car and shoot them in the head while they don't know what's going on. I feel like that with Rick and company too sometimes. I know it is just a show and the characters aren't experts but sometimes they make the stupidest decisions and make the situation worse. At least the new group has an excuse.

RE: OT: The Walking Dead
I really liked the first episode. I think this show is going to be a family drama that happens to feature zombies in the background and I'm okay with that. The son with the drug addiction is gonna be the most fascinating character and probably will end up as the most fit to survive in the zombie world. I just hope that they don't bring on the zombie apocalypse too soon, we already have a show about people surviving that called The Walking Dead.

My honest hope for this show is that it ends with all of these people dying. I hope they never even get out of Los Angeles. 2 seasons should be adequate to cover the beginnings of this thing.

I don't care if they survive or die but I think two seasons of this group will be plenty. If they want the show to go on then they should start with a new group in a new location.

I agree, if this group of people are the only characters then two seasons may be too long. My hope is that there will be some interesting characters who become part of their entourage that we all embrace. My fear is that this will become a "teen" version of TWD.....drugs, sex, teen angst, social justice PC crap, etc....yuck.

I was waiting for someone like the Governor to walk by in the background with his wife and child on vacation or something. Guess he had work that week.

How so?

Last night's episode was just alright
What's with the mom trying to talk to walker principle..After having seen the debacle with cal? seemed a bit lame. She even told daughter to stay away from boyfriend..But she's willing to get up close to a clearly infected principle?
I wanted to see a little more of society collapsing and a little less of heroin addict on the couch going through withdrawals.
Wonder what's up with the mom keeping so many pills? Is she a drug addict as well? Nice to see some emotion from her this episode.

There have been TWO episodes so far. It's not a damn movie where you know it's only gonna last two hours to begin with, and so they pretty much have to jump right in due to time constraints. The first episode probably depicted the very beginning, and the second showed a bit more.

Regarding the mom, they're obviously trying to develop the characters, and you haven't a clue where they're going with it all in terms of the characters and how they could potentially connect to The Walking Dead in the end. **** doesn't happen overnight. Don't be that kid who sits in the backseat nagging mom and dad over and over again about "Are we there yet?" So far it's frankly not as entertaining as I hoped either, but patience, and let's see where this goes. lol

People are so damn quick to criticize everything nowadays. Instant gratification society.
