Seems like things are gonna pick up with this Jesus character being introduced.

Stoked on that episode's touch of humor with Rick and Daryl going back and forth. This one almost seemed like there was a guest director for this episode it had a different feel. But, yes, looking forward to Jesus' kicking ass.

Confirmed it was the first time that Skogland directed a episode.

Didn't care for how they jumped ahead a couple of months. Would have liked to see how Carl dealt with losing his eye. Would have liked to see the immediate aftermath of what happened in the conflict between Carol and Morgan over the wolf. We had Abraham and Tasha becoming a couple, and mentioning that Rosalee would not like it. Nothing regarding that before we jump months ahead.

If you are not going to close stories you set up, why set them up?

BORING!!!

As expected. This episode was light on the budget. I dont need Michael Bay directing, but it ruins the immersion when I can track the cost cutting even when I dont want to.

The CGI explosion in that Darryl RPG scene wasnt high dollar either. Was almost pixelated it was so poorly done.

I like the show, but I dont like the rotating cast of directors and the uneven and underfed AMC budgets. It'd be a better show with a single top flight narrative vision and a budget befitting its viewership.

Also, I havent read the comics, but the zombie story arc needs to progress. If there's no resolution planned then the story is just going to meander until people lose interest. Again, the show deserves better.

Between Jesus being introduced and the trailer for next week we are definitely going to be seeing the Hilltop next episode. For any comic readers, are you concerned how AMC will handle the other communities?

Most TV shows have a rotation of directors. It works when you have astrobg showrunner like Vince Gilligan or David Chase. walking Dead has had a rotation of show runner throughout its run and none have been very good. They are good with special effects but take shortcuts with the story telling.

I am interested to see how the Hilltop and Negan will be introduced. There have been enough changes in the plot from the Comic to the Tv series to make me believe that some surprises are ahead.

Just a guess, but it seems like Glen's series of near death experiences are intended to fatten up the viewers before they bring his story to a close with the introduction of Negan in the season finale.

The first season of True Detective was the same director the entire way through and it shows.

Loved the episode! I think that the show is going in the direction of ultimately showing us the parallels between Negan and Rick and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to hate this Gregory guy...

Comic book guys, how close to being current with the comics is the show now (I know there are big differences). Were the story lines with Hilltop/Negan a long time ago, or is it fairly new material? I was just a little curious as to how close the series/comics are to being concurrent.

I liked that episode too, Gregory not so much.

The show right now is in comic issue 195 ish. This season will probably end on issue 100. Issue 152 of the comic comes out in March. While there are big differences between the comic and the show they were mainly during the early seasons. Over the last 2 seasons the show has followed the comics a lot closer. Some changes can't be corrected because the character is dead in the show but still alive in the comics but they have made up for that with the writing of other characters.

My wife was so happy when Gregory got stabbed only to be disappointed when she realized he wasn't going to die.

Very well done by showing that they both wanted half of the Hilltops supplies. Then Jesus saying that "Negan didn't get this much up front."

RE: OT: The Walking Dead [Warning: Spoilers]
Big difference between what Rick and his group wants and Negan...half of now vs half for ever.

I haven't read all of the comic books but enough to know a few things. They are making it seem like Abraham or Glen is going to be on the bad side of a bat. At first I didn't think it would be glen but if the show follows the Maggie comic book story line then it will most likely be Glen. This weeks show was setting up a few future turns and twists with a lot of hints dropped. Including Meggie's story line in the Comics. This week really was the first time Meggie took any leadership role or talked about as "a leader". I really can't see that developing with Glen still in the picture.
