RE: Tired of the Marshall and ECU fans...
I don't think non-ECU fans know just how isolated they are in the non-aq, they might as well be Hawaii. They're closest non-aq rival is Marshall at 452 miles away. To put it in perspective Houston to Hattiesburg is 436.
I have heard some ECU fans express concern about ODU pulling a South Florida. That may happen but not any time soon and ECU needs a close rival and travel partner. Swallow the pride a bit.

You'll find MUCH LESS resistance when ECU fans talk about ODU, JMU or GSU than when they talk about UNCQC or App State. NC has 5 FBS level schools already. No reason to add another especially when GSU, JMU and ODU are leaps and bounds ahead of Charlotte in football.
I'd love for ODU and Georgia State to move up. Charlotte and App can rot.

Just hope Busch Gardens is open that time of year. BG on Friday, Monarchs on Saturday and then drive home.

Why c@#$ block Appalachian State? They're not getting into the Big East ahead of ECU. Georgia State or Charlotte could, based on past performance (Temple, Memphis, etc.)

App offers nothing other than attendance to be honest. Crappy non-football sports, no market, more competition for talent in NC. App state gets more resistance than Charlotte for historical reasons. It's a long story. Basically we've never played D1AA. We chose very different paths when D1 split. Most ECU fans couldn't give a rip about App St in any capacity whatsoever.

RE: Tired of the Marshall and ECU fans...
The irony of this thread is that ECU fans are proving how controlling they are of conference USA. You guys don't want big market teams around yourself which happen to be the ones that make the most sense, but if UCF stayed you guys would probably be pushing for FIU who cuts into UCF's recruits.
North Carolina has enough population to support two or three more teams. Look at Alabama we have Troy, UAB, South, Auburn, and Alabama and USM and Georgia Tech recruit in Alabama along with other SEC schools. And our population is no where near yours.
You guys almost have a ten million population
Alabama has a four million population and a lot of those people don't live here.
And Alabama has it's share of FCS/lower teams before you go there also. UNA, Jax St, Alabama A&M, Alabama St, West Alabama, and a few smaller schools.

Would St Johns want St Bonaventure in the Big East?

I said it made sense. I wasn't being sarcastic--ECU fans have no reason to think about App State. Your analogy is dead-on right--St Johns fans have no reason to think about St Bonaventure.
And, for the record, no. I would not welcome St Bonaventure into the Big East.

I don't think one ECU fan on this website controls the destiny of CUSA. Have you even read the entire thread? Some of us have mentioned ODU and GA State as well as other teams from the Belt that aren't Market heavy. You make no sense sometimes with what you write. In reality, you would love to see Troy in CUSA and you know it, so deny if you want. Bottom line is the same for any school and any conference in this order:
1. What's good for us.
2. What's good for the conference.
3. F*ck everybody else.

And here goes the usual uncomfortable "you wish Troy" remark. Some of you want ODU and a lot of you don't so what's your point? Every team moved up hurts all non aq teams to a small extent. I'm not the only one who notices that ECU fans look at teams with the intention of keeping them down with politics. Instead of just staying ahead of them by beating them.

Big difference between what fans say and what administrations actually do. When ECU's administration goes down the road you accuse the fans of doing, then you have some room to talk. Until then, you are just looking for someone to blame.

Problem is (for ECU fans), as soon as you bring them into the conference, you're not ahead of them--you're equal to them. So if ECU sign off on, say, bringing Charlotte up from FCS, they're expecting that in the next round of realignment, Charlotte will be on the same level as ECU competitively--assuming neither school wins 10 games a year for 5 years--backed up by a much bigger TV market.
(Some) ECU fans are bitter that UCF and USF passed them like they were standing still. So they don't want to help Charlotte and Georgia State become "the next South Florida."

RE: Tired of the Marshall and ECU fans...
I know some of them are bitter and I don't blame them but this bitterness has gone to far. At first it was the big east was a step down, then it was well they added crappy teams and we will be better, now its screw our conference mates at our own expense and try to screw everyone else.
Just go look at the Sun Belt board and see the increase of ECU and Marshall fans posting there. I honestly don't care what conference my school ends up in because we don't blame the conference when we lose. All I want is for this nonsense to end.
