Nice win by Tulsa. That was quite a last 30 seconds or so.

The announcers said SMU has not won on their home court against Tulsa since the WAC days.

That Larry Brown D is tough.
I thought Pat Swilling ended up at La Tech. I know he was at St Joe's for a while. Nice shot.

Again, we will revisit later....In the long run, the cream will rise to thye top....Memphis, even with Pastner as coach.
Pastner is 85-32 (.726) overall and 42-13 (.764) against C-USA opponents. He is not exactly a disaster. Yes, he can't beat ranked teams or win NCAA tournament games, but he hasn't run the program into the ditch.
The thing is, why hasn't he won ALL of his CUSA games with the talent he has at his disposal?
IMO he will be a great coach someday, but he is still learning
It's not elite talent at the level Calipari had. Calipari had the first pick in the draft and rookie of the year in the NBA in Derrick Rose and followed that up with a top 10 pick in Tyreke Evans. With those guys he had a first team all-american in Chris Douglas Roberts and one of the most underrated do everything guys in Antonio Anderson. Pastner's talent has been good, but not that good. Pastner has a ways to go, but he has done pretty good in my opinion. A lot of Memphis fans got spoiled with Calipari, but I remember some of the crappy seasons we had in the late 80's through late 90's. I'll take a 72% winning percentage, 25 wins a year guy any day of the week.
And Calipari took Memphis' first year recruits with him to Kentucky in Pastner's first year in Memphis--2009-2010.
And it bears mentioning, Pastner has a better record in his first 3 years than Cal did.

That was a game for the archives...of bad basketball!
I can't believe how badly Tulsa stunk it up in the second half and still managed to win. It helped that SMU stunk it up so badly in the first half.
I guess TU won't try to talk Pat Swilling, Jr. into switching back to football (even though I think he could be a helluva linebacker). He was about all of the offense Tulsa could muster.
Tulsa 9-6 and 1-0. Many of us thought TU might only win nine games all season.

Ya, I had the over/under going in to the season at 10 wins with all the defections and Maduka heart problem and not being able to play. And then we lost our best player a few games in to the season (Smith) and a few games ago lost our most promising frosh big man (Wright). Other big man has only played a few games (Swaneggan) because of injuries.
I'm literally amazed we are winning these games. We have no business winning these. I think Manning is going to be a special coach. It would be hard to overestimate the job he's done this year.

Tulsa breaks into the top 100 of the RPI with the win. TU now #98 with a SOS of #116. They have won 3 of 4, with the loss coming @ Florida State.

If Tulsa can get Rashad Smith & D'Andre Wright back healthy & our freshmen can keep progressing, we could be a pretty decent team by March. With 3 of our 5 big men hurt, the only thing carrying us is team speed & athleticism, especially by our freshmen. Oh yeah, Manning has instilled a level of confidence with the young guys that has been missing at Tulsa since Self.

Sure thing. SMU finishes in top 8, I'll give you a pro-SMU photo to put in your sig for one week. SMU finishes in bottom 4, and you give me a pro-USM, pro-CUSA, or whatever sort of photo so I can put it in my sig for one week.
