Illinois now 4-3 after going 3-1 in the tournament. we handed them their only loss.

There isn't a team in the classic that's going to sniff an at large birth in a regional. I'm thrilled we won 3 straight. Despite my feeling that Godwin deserves to be gone I would love for him to prove me wrong and earn an extension after this season. However, we are going to have to beat someone who is actually a regional caliber program before I start believing this season is really and truly going to be any different than the last 3.

Yeah, it was a bad one tonight for sure. Liberty should not own us. BG was not a happy camper on post game radio.

Godwin's not going to survive this season unless our pitching gets a whole lot better in a hurry.

Sounds like you ECU guys are in the same boat as us. We got beat 10 to 5 tonight by SFA to put us at 2-6 on the year. Hope our coach finally gets fired.

that's a ridiculous post. it was a planned staff night. think of it as auditions...they need to find pitching depth...how else are you going to do that unless you put them out there in real game experiences?

UNC does it against us nearly every time we play them, new pitcher every inning.

I'm proud of every win, especially against a program that's been a thorn in our side over the past few years.

you can't whine and moan about them knocking us out of a regional one second then not be happy we won a series vs. them.

What horrible losses ??
UVA is 11-0 and ranked #17
Liberty is 7-2 with their only two losses to #5 South Carolina and both of those were 1 run losses and they also beat South Carolina
Campbell is 10-1 and threw one of their better pitchers against us in a midweek game.

End of the day, ECU Baseball team is average this year at best and could get better if we develop mid week pitching. The combined win loss record of the teams that have beat us is 28-3 so not exactly like we have lost games to the sisters of the poor but the manner we lost to them was embarassing. This years team has a lot of work to do to get to the point of being a #2 seed in a NCAA regional and could easily end up a #3 or #4 seed which is not very good by ECU standards. I am not as emotionally invested in the fire BG crowd but I honestly think we have seen what he brings to the table and we do need to decide if that is acceptable or if we try and bring in a coach who can take us to the always sought after, rarely achieved next level.

We should be beating (or at least competing with and not getting blown out by) teams like Virginia, Liberty, and Campbell at this point.

Well we have some quality teams on our schedule to prove we can do just that. Our mid week pitching has sucked and hitting has not exactly exploded yet. Liberty and Campbell both threw pitchers at us that were far superior to what we had on the mound. I think this seasons turns out mediocre and not awful enough to fire BG and certainly not great enough to make everybody love BG....so nobody is going to win IMO.

back to back weekend sweeps.....excellent outing for Lucroy today. just need to find some consistent mid week pitching.

Yes they are although in fairness UVA has played nobody yet except ECU that is worth a damn. Liberty on the other hand is a damn good Baseball team that has only 2 defeats and those were 1 run games to #5 South Carolina. The loss to Campbell hurts but they threw a good pitcher against us in the mid week. They play @ NCST this wednesday so we will get a better idea if Campbell is worth a damn. End of the day it is not who we lost to but how we lost to them. UVA is a solid team this year and has a shot at Omaha but ECU should not be swept at home even by UVA. Liberty is flat out a better baseball team then ECU this year and will go farther in the Tournament then we do but giving up two grand slams in one game is just flat out ugly. We are basically trying to grow a team right before our eyes with young pitchers and position players. That can be ugly but it is part of Baseball. I watched South Carolina replace a National Championship team with a bunch of Freshman and they did not miss a beat.
