A&M and Baylor refuse to play us and have not since the SWC folded.
Every other SWC school (even Texas) has at some point but those two.
They have flat out told us they will not play us.
I want to play you guys. It'd be fun win or lose. I enjoyed the TCU, SMU, and Rice series and would like to see UH and Arky too.

Our AD said your school would never play us period...We have tried for the last 5 years....I think were done trying.

That is disappointing. I'd rather play UH than some of our upcoming foes like Buffalo. However I think the AD is trying to do two things:
- Schedule regional H&H with history (SMU, Rice, UTSA)
- Schedule private schools (SMU, Duke, Rice, Liberty)
- Do so while keeping SOS respectable but down as the Big 12 is brutal with 9 game schedules and consistent bowl appearances are deemed more important than intriguing non-conference games.
I hope we play UH sometime soon though. Both schools have built their programs up recently.

SMU wants to play all of the old Southwest Conference schools. Four of them in one year was just too much.
At best, SMU could have gone 2-2. But 0-4 was far more likely. That would have killed a lot of the enthusiasm going into the first season in the Big East.

I would love to see it as well. There is a built in beef (at least from our side....) with the way Briles bailed on us. I would love the opportunity to stomp him every year.....
Before anyone goes there here is my take on Briles and Sumlin. I do not hold bitterness towards either of them for taking either job. I have MAJOR beef with them in the manner they both took the jobs.
Briles bailed just before our bowl. Had he seen us through the game and left after the 4th quarter I would have been upset but I would understand. We literally had players calling the plays on defense and especially offense (I was there right by our sidelines watching it happen) and we still almost beat TCU.
Sumlin ruined our best season in decades and a shot (and very likely win) at a Sugar Bowl berth. Imagine (even with the train wreck that was 2012) how that would have helped our program? If he had just given 100% through our championship game and left the day after I would be upset but I would understand. I know for a fact that he didn't even give out the gameplan till Thursday (2 days before the game) when he ALWAYS gave it out on Tuesday. That and anyone in person could see he was not coaching that afternoon against SMiss.
I conceed even given our best efforts that SMiss could have still beaten us but that game was far from our best effort. The players were basiclly left holding the bag and the whole coaching bs became a major distraction that he did nothing but feed. But I digress.....
I don't blame either of them for going to better jobs (I will admit even Baylor at the time b/c it is in the B12) but they could have been a little more classy about it....

I think it makes sense for the schools to keep it at Jerryworld if it financially works out. I remember the initial estimates were 3mm every 2 years instead of 2mm every other year for the schools doing it in Dallas.
I like it as I never have to travel to Lubbock and both campuses can avoid the empty campus games on Thanksgiving weekend.

I never understand attendance smack talk. It's like academic smack talk. It is weak. We have 6000 undergrads. You have what, 30k? None if whom can stay in Lubbock after college and get a good job. So you come to Dallas for employment. Big freaking deal.
Of course you outnumber us. All told we only have about 400,000 alums living around the world. It's a privilege to be an SMU alum. Not a consolation prize for living in Lubbock for 5 years.

Not butt hurt at all, I have some very good friends who graduated from A&M. They also despise the t-shirts aggie fans that tend to give their University a bad name.
Ford Stadium in Dallas will be rocking with 15-20K Tech fans in anticipation of Kliff's debut as HC. Just for the record, we haven't lost to SMU since the 80's IIRC. A&M during their cheating years tied one of the worst SMU teams ever in 94. So anything is possible

And they (SMU) beat us (or better yet stomped us to be honest) for only the 2nd time since 1992.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day...........
12-3-1 against SMU since the death penalty.

With TCU in the Big 12, we don't need to play Baylor in DFW anymore. We can schedule SMU in Dallas the years we play TCU in Lubbock. The 2008 Baylor game in Lubbock had 53K 2 days after Thanksgiving.

No reason to get your hackles up.....I don't care how many fans Tech brings.....that is not the reason I prefer playing Baylor and TCU.
Think about it.....it will come to you.

Most of us believe that Baylor ratted out SMU in the proceedings which led to the death penalty.

But the secret men in black behind Stopperich and Stanley were Baylor alums and Ann Richards.
The conspiracy continues.
