What if we want to add someone like Southern Mississippi later? They hardly fit that handle.
They fit it about as much as we (SMU/UH) fit the "Eastern" naming convention, which we already signed on to once.
Hell, USM was already a member of the Metro in the past.
I think it's clear the bar is set to "most" but not "all" conference members fitting the moniker of the conference.
Look on a map of the USA. Dallas and Houston are nearer the east coast than the west.
Los Angeles: 118.2428° W
New York: 74.0064° W
Geographic center of the USA: 98.5553° W
Dallas: 96.8039° W
Houston: 95.3631° W
So, you're going to hang your hat in this argument on an order of 3 degrees Longitude?
Ooooooooooooookay then. :phew:
OK so you proved me right. Besides that Dallas and Houston have a lot more in common with New York than they do with Los Angeles or San Francisco.
What are you trying to prove?

The centroid (hope I'm not talking above your head) of the conference footprint is near Atlanta, GA. That's farther east than the centroid of the SEC (near Birmingham).

We're talking about outliers here, gramps.
