Just saying it would be nice to get the Gator guaranteed no matter what. There is the Outback and Capital One already for Big 10 vs SEC. It shouldn't be hard with good leadership to get the Gator spot guaranteed no matter what.

Well, the Orange Bowl deal is water under the bridge - I think that deal was struck in order to get the TV money up to a decent level.

Not sure what's going on in Jacksonville, but I get the feeling the Gator Bowl folks don't want to let go of those Champagne Wishes and B1G Dreams... (even though they had better attendance AND TV ratings when it was ACC vs. Big East). GB folks are reaching for pie-in-the-sky, IMO.

I'll be interested in where the Gator Bowl falls in the SEC and B1G bowl pecking order. When they first started they were getting about the 6th best B1G team and 6/7 best SEC team even though they were paying more than some of the bowls in front of them. It seems as though the Gator will fall below the Russell even though they paid more historically. It will be interesting to see how all the details work out.

Not even close.

Russell Athletic - pre-NYD bowl, > $2.5 million payout.

Capital One - NYD bowl, $4.5 million payout.

The only thing = about the two bowls is the location.

So the ACC will have the Russell Athletics Bowl 5 days before New Years as it's number 2 and people are happy about this? This is another weak move by Swofford if this is all confirmed.

I haven't read anything like that. From what I saw it appears we traded 3 Music City bids over 6 years for the same number of Gator bids.

Then it sounds like we replace the B1G in the Cap One if they are in the Orange.

There is still a lot unknown about the bowls right now though. It'd be nice to have added the Gator outright but I don't think that is a bid deal. The Cap One tie in is nice. It's still too early to judge with so many unanswered questions.

Starting to come together. It looks like the rumor of SEC vs. BIG/ACC may be true.

Apparently you didn't read the entire thread. In context we were speculating that the bowl committee there already had SEC/B1G in the Capital One Bowl and wanted to sew up ACC/BigXII in the Russell Athletic Bowl... so I wrote "IF" they make the two equal, then it doesn't matter which one we go to.

FYI - the Capital One may not be on New Year's Day any more either since that day is pretty well reserved for the Orange / Sugar / Rose bowl trio.

However, as with all things, we will have to wait & see.

Though no deal done, #ACC optimistic about renewing with the Sun Bowl from 2014-19, per source. S.B. is current #Pac12 #ACC tie-in
