I don't read this board much. I came because of the ****** comments made by the USM booster.

I for one will NOT be guaranteeing a UNT win against USM this season. While we should be improved, I won't guarantee a win against anybody on our schedule. This years UNT mens basketball collapse has taken away any bravado that I could have possibly mustered right now.

The 0-12 record by USM last season was a shocker to me as a fan of another school. The quality of the recent USM FB recruits alone should have given them 6 wins. This is one FB team that should be able to turn things around quick.

I look forward to an exciting fall FB season in the new CUSA West. Hopefully, UNT will finally get their share of luck. It has been a while since anything has worked in our favor.

And WTF is "Carnegie Tier 4?" USM is in the same basic Carnegie category as UNT (Doctoral/Research, High), and does a tremendous amount of research.

Maybe you should do some research about stereotypes and how misleading they can be.

in 2001 the last year the NSF has data available USM was six places ahead of north Texas state in total research and development 46,951,000 million to 42,475,000

Todge doesn't have a school. He failed out.

And how, exactly, am I delusional? I pointed out areas that we excel in and are tops in and that makes me delusional? OK. You can't paint UNT as a "JuCo" with no information to back it up unless you want to come off looking like a dolt. Opinions are only opinions and while everyone is entitled to an opinion, people aren't entitled to ignorance and there's a lot of ignorance going around here.

you pointed out areas that you thought north Texas state excelled in and then the vast majority of them were proven false and you have failed to support the claims about a top 50 Journalism program (and it has been shown that is not true) and you have failed to show that the college of music at north Texas state was ever ranked #1 by anyone anytime ever and it has been shown that there is no record of that anywhere and in several subsets of Music north Texas state is not even the top program in Texas in that subset much less the top program in the USA and only in Jazz Studies is north Texas state #1......which does not equate to #1 in Music as has been claimed

can you provide any proof of those claims?

and also the Carnegie Foundation has not used "tier" classifications since at least 1994 if not longer and they have issued classifications without tier in 1994, 2000, 2005, and 2010 so that is not exactly "until recently"

here is PROOF......something you never seem to provide about any of your silly claims

http://classifications.carnegiefoundatio...ntable.pdf

there is the classifications from 2000

http://classifications.carnegiefoundatio...n_data.xls

above is the classifications from 1994 you can see the universities on the tabs below the far right tab

and interestingly enough USM is in the same classification as north Texas state in 1994 and in 2000 as shown in those links directly from the Carnegie Foundation website

so once again it is shown that you are lying about USM being "tier 4" in the recent past because the Carnegie Foundation has not used that term for at least 19 years if not longer and USM is in the same classification as north Texas state since at least 1994

so again well done on making something up, failing to support it, and then being proven a lair and a fool...unless you somehow think that using the actual classifications from the Carnegie Foundation is using stats in a "right wing way" and only using stats that support my position.....VS I suppose just using BS pulled from thin air as you so left wing like do you have once again been proven a clown and a liar and full of BS
Solid post; also, I don't know about UNT, but USM has at least doubled its research funding since 2001.
