Hate to disagree with a fellow SU fan, but that is a silly statement to me. As far as the 04 bcs rep. It should have been either BC or WV to represent the BE. Either program would have looked better against Utah than Pitt or Cuse. And I would have hated to see the result of that game if SU was the bcs rep that year. You think the 52-14 drubbing by a mediocre Georgia Tech was bad, just imagine what may have taken place if Cuse had to play Utah in the bcs. Total domination.

...
It all depends
-If WVU can pound everone with the spread option, then WVU wins, but
-If WVU struggles and their opponents trash the option, then its wide open

UConn would have given Utah a game IMO.

I would say you have to be joking, but I don't think you are!
Let's just say you finished 5th in the league that year, and it was a league that didn't even have a top team in it that year. Sure I'm biased but the only 2004 team among current Big East members that would have given Utah a game was 11-1 UofL.

Didn't say we'd beat them, but we did beat Pitt and had a good defense that year.

White and Slaton really didn't get going until WVU's 6th and 7th game so during the early stretch there was no one to surprise. It is hard to believe that WVU was 6-1 going in to the Louisville game with nothing settled at the QB position. How would the season have progressed if Bednarik had not been hurt and White brought in to replace him?
It really is hard to say how well this WVU team will do especially against Louisville until we see how the secondary (and defense in general) shapes up. WVU's defense last year was underrated. A classic bend but don't break squad that at the same time forced turnovers.
I take it the Mountaineers shouldn't gather at midfield and jump up and down. Any other home field rules they need to worry about?

So did Syracuse. SU also beat BC and Uconn, but I would not say that SU would have given Utah a good game, because I know that there were no good matchups for SU against Utah. Utah would have pounded SU and Uconn at the very least, worst than they pounded Pitt.
And I would not say that Louisville would have been the only current BE team to be able to give Utah a game that year. I think that WV had what it takes to hang with Utah that year, including great matchups.

Wilkie, I just had a thought. After we beat that beer, what are we going to do with a beat up beer?

Anyone voting on Cincinnati, Connecticutt, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, or South Florida are living in fantasy land. The only race the other schools are in is to see who will qualify for a bowl game. The Big East championship is a bit beyond them at the moment.
I probably would have left all of them out except for Louisville and WVU, so I hope all you Syracuse fans don't feel too bad.
Interesting how things have turned out ey? No one saw Rutgers coming this year, not even most Rutgers fans.

That goes to show you, for people ripping someone for voting for a Rutgers, or a Cincinnati, or a South Florida or a Pittsburgh or Connecticut need to realize anything can happen. Heck, South Florida was actually in the running for the Big East title last year before losing to West Virginia at the end of the season!
