So how is everyone feeling about their football teams?
Now that camp has opened and most of us have at least a week in the books. What are you liking so far out of camp reports and what is already making you worry?
So far there really hasn't been anything negative come out of camp with The Herd and I love the reports of the overall intensity of the practices. From several accounts this is the most intense camps in recent memory and the 4 newcomers that are already on campus are looking like absolute studs. Also DJ Hunter moved back down to the SAM LB position where he was a Freshman All-American and has already started making an impact and Kevin Grooms is back to his form that got him the CUSA FOPY honor.
Gonna be a special year and I can't wait until we get all the 2014 class on campus and get our other 4 NQs out on the field.

Nervous about replacing Cooper @ RB.
Hoping our new/upgraded OL can block for Carden.

RE: So how is everyone feeling about their football teams?
It's an exciting time for ODU fans, new conference, top recruiting classes and a new stadium in a few years. I think ODU has the most potential of any C-USA team, that's what makes it so exciting.
ODU has the talent to make a real go of our first full FBS season, chances to make a splash against NC State, Vandy and of course the conference. We've actually been fortunate in the past few seasons when it comes to close games, we've had the talent and luck to pull a lot of them off. The problem with this season is we will be playing teams that are bigger, faster, stronger and who have more depth than us. These things make those tense last 5-10 minutes much harder. Our schedule is full of very beatable teams but that will be extremely hard, I think we'll do very well to sneak up to 5-7 or 6-6. It's the unknown however and much more experienced teams could leave us at 2-10.
This time next year we should be more definite about our stadium, possibly some initial plans and I think we'll have another top recruiting class in C-USA. Plenty of upside, but so much to possibly go wrong. Popping our FBS cherry could get very, very messy.

Re: So how is everyone feeling about their football teams?
Good news out of UTSA as everyone is back and bigger, stronger from the year before. Our big question mark was our new senior QB but he is already opening up our offense production and should be solid. The strengths of UTSA are the offensive and defensive lines.

We'll see about that, in due time.

All reports seem to be fine at FAU. Spring game is this weekend.
We do have a QB battle between Quez and Hankerson. The team has responded well to Coach Partridge from all accounts.

Word from first scrimmage is that the OLine is still bad. This is troubling. Very troubling. My liver is terrified.

Same in Ruston. You never realize how important an OL is until you have a bad one.

Meh. If we get the Iowa QB and he's any good I will feel better, but continue with a bad OL and I'll just pray for mediocre. When does basketball season start again?

I love this time of year. Our fb team is great in the spring. Glowing reports all around. This problem solved, that hole filled, competition is awesome, etc, etc. Then the football season begins in the fall and it all goes to hell in a hand basket.

Indeed. Sort of like war. All battle plans are perfect until the first shot is fired. Good luck this year.

That's what got you off to a bad start last year. Go with Quez and call it a day.

Other than have a good backup QB as good as Froh. I think Marshall is set. The back up QB will be the future of Marshall football after this season and would have to hold things together even if Cato gets dinged up an has to miss a game this season.
