Poll: If you can't afford to have kids, what should happen?
It should be illegal and you should be punished
The kids get taken away until you can afford them
After the first one you get a temp sterilization until you can afford to have kids
Nothing should happen, why should it?
You get supported by the tax payers and can have as many as you want.

Temporary, not permanent. Essentially, tie the birth control shot to the payment. If you cannot afford your current kids then you damn sure don't need any more.

That is called eugenics.

While I do look down on those that have kids and can't make it without government assistance, I also look down on those that can support a family and choose to never grow up. The problem is, what was supposed to be a safety net has become a full-time job of doing nothing. Get rid of welfare checks and let the parents go to a warehouse and pick up free diapers, wipes, formula, baby food etc. Taking people's children away (provided there is no evidence of abuse or neglect) or forcing contraception just doesn't sit well with me as a conservative. Deadbeat dads, however, should rot in jail.
I like how your definition of growing up is having a child. Because going to work every day and supporting oneself isn't good enough.

It is my opinion that you don't grow up until you take on the ultimate responsibility. Anyone can get up and go to work everyday. Having a child requires sacrifice that many people today don't have the emotional or psychological strength to overcome.
Or the desire to clean **** off another person.

Someone cleaned schit off you one day too. I'll tell you it's much easier to clean schit off your baby than your parent or grandparent.
I'm sure they did, that doesn't make someone not grown up for wanting to do it themselves.

Once the child is born, you're not just cleaning sh*t off another person, you're cleaning sh*t off of your child. If you're gonna go screw without a rubber, that's one of the risks you take. If you can't handle it, don't screw without a rubber. Better yet, just don't screw. But you roll through a beat down slum and tell them that, see what kind of response you get from the irresponsibles.

Cut the support network once you move beyond the 2nd child. Do that, and this will all stop as suddenly the mother and father are broke and don't have money to blow at the club.

I think you came in at the wrong part of that. I was questioning why ER thinks that people who don't have/don't want children are not "grown ups".

I think we all agree that if you spawn, you should do your damnedest to take care of your spawn.

If that is a major concern of yours, please don't have any, but it only validates my point of maturity. Trust me, cleaning schit is probably the easiest and one of the least vile part of parenting.

I agree 100%, but I'm not afraid of being called names. The people who have the power to do this are afraid of the character they will be given by the leftstream media. They'll be racist, hate mongers waging war against women once they propose this.

I just don't get the connection between desire to procreate and maturity.

It is nowhere close to eugenics. It is simple responsibility. I'm not even keeping them from having a single kid. After you have a kid on the public dime then you no longer reproduce *until* you are off the public dime. That simple.

Eugenics would keep people from ever reproducing, whether financially able or not. This is nothing close to that.

Oh, I see. Disregard my last response then. I didn't read that part. It's tough being a parent, and even though I have four boys between 6 and 12, I've told my GF that we probably won't have one together. But that's also because I don't want another one.

If an individual is on any type of government assistance, they should be mandated to not procreate or be jailed. They need to receive birth control injections at the health dept in order to receive their $$$$$. Simple!!

No, it isn't. Eugenics is about breeding the top "genetic" human beings and nobody else. Only those deemed with good qualities would be allowed to reproduce. This is nothing of that sort. This is about slowly getting welfare costs under control.

Along with a drug test and a physical. If they fail the drug test, no check. If they pass the physical, no check.

At some level I agree, except for the fact that we would then have to have a lot more foster parents for the kids that would never get fed if you attached that rule.

It gives you a perspective on life that can't be put into words on this board. I had the exact same opinion as you regarding children until I got married and we had one. My son is the best thing that ever happened to me. I'll just leave it at that.

Yeah, you worded it better than I did when I called it temp sterilization. Tell libs to get on birth control in order to keep the free cash flowing and they go nuts. Deny them free birth control and Sandra Fluke along with a bunch of other libs get on TV and call you a sexist. The left wants it both ways, as usual.
