RE: Open Thread - 2015 Baseball Season
With everyone having two games remaining, here's the current ACC seeding.

Opening Round
7- UNC vs. 10- VT
8- GT vs. 9- UVA

Pool Play A
1- UofL, 4- Notre Dame, 5- NC State, 8/9- GT/UVA

Pool Play B
2- Miami, 3- FSU, 6- Clemson, 7/10- UNC/VT

Notes:
-UofL and Miami are locked into their seeds.
-The top 6 (through Clemson) are guaranteed a spot in the tournament
-5 of the current top 6 that earn a 1st round bye are from the Atlantic Division
-Pitt/BC/Duke are all eliminated
-Wake currently is a half game out of 10th place and easily could make the tournament knocking someone from above out

-For most of the season the top 3 seeds appeared to be UofL/Miami/FSU in a near lock. Don't look now but ND has quickly been catching FSU in the standings. The Irish swept the 'Noles so if ND is 1 game better than FSU over the next two days they'll finish tied and ND is the 3 seed, which flips FSU to the other pool.

Why would you want Pitt to beat VT? (I'm not up on all of the baseball scenarios)

The Hokies currently hold the last spot in the ACC tournament, with Wake a half game back with two games remaining.

ND/BC wrapped up their series Friday, but everyone else closes the regular season with a final game Saturday. At the moment....

8- UNC vs. 9- GT

Pool Play A

-The top 6, through Clemson, are all guaranteed a bye from the opening round on Tuesday.
-UVA & UNC are guaranteed a spot in the field, and will play in the opening round

Among GT/VT/Wake, two will make the tournament. To make the field:

The 3/4 seed really doesn't make much difference. It's not like a first round bye is up for grabs. And I remember when Pitt folk said their baseball team would surprise ACC fans. Well...

I'd rather give up our NCAAT spot to Wake. We all know what happens when GT gets in the tournament and it isn't loaded with several future MLB stars. Which is to say, every year but two pretty much.

uva wins today to complete sweep of unc and secures the 7th seed and seems back in top form for the postseason. If pitching ace Kirby returns for ncaa tourney the Cavs could make a run after enduring a difficult year of injuries.

@CanesBaseball now w nation's No. 2 RPI & appears FSU, getting hammered by Clemson, will be swept. National seed likely closing in for UM.

From 9-21 to 17-13 and third place in one year?

Good job, Irish.

Pretty disappointing season, even by Danny Hall standards. GT baseball and Clemson baseball are both in Bobby Bowden kind of situations.

I just don't see how GT makes the NCAA tournament unless they take at least 2, probably 3 games in Durham. And I don't see that happening.
