RE: What If - Baseball?
Houston beat the snot out of Baylor today. USF is playing top ranked Florida and its close. It would be nice to see USF move on. So today the AAC really performed nicely and hopefully we can see some of our brothers in Omaha. On another note, OSU got waxed by ORU 14-6 and now OSU is eliminated. Again, I thought that ORU would have been a seemless replacement for WSU in the MVC, but obviously that has come and gone. I'd love to see ORU get to Omaha as well. It would give us someone to root for besides one of our AAC brothers.
As I'm writing this OU is getting beat by Louisville 8-1. So the Oklahoma Big12 schools are tanking. I'm so broken hearted! :)

Houston still alive with win over Iowa in Houston. But UCF and USF sent home. Go cougars!
We need to get teams into the College World Series - both men and women. The AAC goal should be 3 to 4 teams in the NCAA regionals and minimum two in the World Series. The potential is there, but the on field success needs to follow.

RE: What If - Baseball?
I am looking forward to this AAC baseball season now that WSU is in the league. We now have some balance in the conference in that sport. Western teams have 4 teams now compared to the eastern's 5. Also, we were rated the 5th best baseball conference in the nation last year. So one more team that balances the league and adds prestige since it won the CWS and national Championship (in 1989), can't hurt.
Here is the breakdown - east and west.
Eastern AAC
UCONN
Cincinnati
ECU
UCF
USF
-----------------------------
Western AAC
Memphis
Tulane
Houston
Wichita St

RE: What If - Baseball?
We always beat this dead horse. Trust me I get it. I would love to have baseball. But we're a small private university, with 2,000 out of 2,300 students athletes. Just kidding.
The truth is title xi prevents us right now with out a women's sport to match. We have the talent locally to recruit, the fan support Tulsa is a good baseball town. We could even work out the field situation pretty easily. Hell we even have the history.
We don't have the money right now, for the sport or the money to cover the title xi costs. But if I ever win the lottery. . .

Since its baseball season I thought I would bump it just for discussion purposes. It would be nice to follow the league and keep abreast of how the other schools in the AAC are doing. Thats the reason for bumping the thread.
