Andrea Adelson of ESPN tackles ACC divisional realignment.
Of all the scenarios we've come up with, I don't think anyone came up with these two. She promised John Swofford she'd send him a copy.

Interesting that the GT AD said both schools would be willing to give up GT-Clemson as a permanent cross-over game.

Option 1 works for me.

Doubt FSU fans will agree though. 03-wink

And while GT may be willing to give up the Clemson rivalry game, I doubt they would want to give it up for that set-up. 03-lmfao

Only goes to demonstrate why 3-5-5 is the way to go if the conference remains at 14 football playing full members.

Cheers,
Neil

From Pitt's POV, neither is ideal but we would prefer Option 1 over Option 2. The second option just doesn't have enough meat on it's bones.

That said, it is not nearly as bad as many of the other proposals that are constantly floated on here and which always seem to go out of their way to screw over the northern-based teams.

I'm for any division setup as long as the crossover schools gets played more often.

What makes Andrea Adelson think that the league hasn't already considered these possibilities (and countless others) and rejected them? These aren't stupid people, and we know they have had alignment on their agenda repeatedly.

I'm opposed to any division name that includes "tobacco road" in its name.

I don't have a problem with splitting the NC schools between divisions.

No thanks on keeping bc and Syracuse both on any model. It's a crock that fsu is stuck with both of them and shut out of the state of Virginia

Now this girl suggests shutting them out of nc too and losing Clemson?

There is a reason she blogs

Option 1 is fine for me, assuming FSU keeps Clemson as the crossover rival. Option 2 is stupid as crap because it doesn't improve anything.

I think what she was trying to accomplish with these set-ups is do away with cross-over rivalry games so she attempted to put all the must-have rivalries within a division, have no designated cross-over rivalry game, and to balance the divisions in terms of overall strength as much as possible.

So no, FSU-Clemson would not be an annual game in either option. I think in her mind that should be avoided in order to increase the likelihood of that being the ACC championship game.

Cheers,
Neil

I'd rather have option 2 if Clemson were a guaranteed crossover but she said this would eliminate those

I'd rather have the 4 nc schools over the big east

How I would do it:

Option 1 - Version 1
Atlantic - Coastal
Boston College - UVA
Florida State - Clemson
Georgia Tech - Duke
Louisville - VPI
Miami - UNC
Pittsburgh - NCSU
Syracuse - WF

or

Option 1 - Version 2

Atlantic - Coastal
Boston College - Rotate
Florida State - Clemson
Georgia Tech - Duke
Louisville - Rotate
Miami - Rotate
Pittsburgh - Rotate
Syracuse - Rotate

AKA
Coastal - Atlantic
Clemson - FSU
Duke - GT
North Carolina - Rotate
NC State - Rotate
Virginia - Rotate
Virginia Tech - Rotate
Wake Forest - Rotate

Option 1, Version 2 is actually pretty decent

It is going to be nice when the four division rule is finally passed. Watching you ACC fans continue to bash your heads against the wall in what appears to be an impossible exercise that could be considered a case of masochistic tendencies from an outsider viewpoint, well it's painful to watch.

If anyone needs new divisional rules, it is the ACC and it's coming. Put together your favored groupings of four and it is a much easier exercise for the noodle.

Neither one of her options is acceptable unless the ACC is going to up our paycheck to make up for the lost revenue for sticking us in a division with teams that A. we can only charge the standard ACC ticket fee for and B. do not travel.

Quite simply, that's stupid.

There are no rules preventing the ACC from fixing its scheduling.

Atlantic-------------------------------Coastal
FSU-----------------------------------Miami(permanent crossover rivals)
Clemson -----------------------------NC State(permanent crossover rivals)
Georgia Tech-------------------------North Carolina or Duke(permanent crossover rival)
Pittsburgh----------------------------Virginia
Syracuse-----------------------------North Carolina or Duke
Louisville-----------------------------Virginia Tech
Boston College----------------------Wake Forest

in this alignment there are only 3 permanent cross over rivals while the rest rotate thru the rest of the teams
