Its amazing how well a company can do if their employees are trained well, courteous, can speak english, love what they do, and have no problems using the restroom of their natural born sex.

Yup.

Chick-fil-a does things the right way and they are rewarded. I have never had a poor experience at Chick-fil-a. I cannot say that for the major burger chains. From botched orders to rude employees and a messy dining area.

Had one "bad" experience. We had been running calls all day and hadn't had time to even go get groceries for the evening meal so we stopped by Chick-fil-a after clearing something like call # 20 of the day. They were super busy and got two orders out of four wrong. No big deal as we actually ate the meal in the engine a couple blocks away while waiting on law enforcement to secure an assault scene for us on a medical call. We stopped back off after clearing the call to get it cleared up, again no big deal. The manager on duty apologized profusely and ended up refunding the money to my guys and gave us all a bunch of coupons.

Compare that to the Burger King I dealt with a couple days later who pretty much decided they were going to make my Whopper their way instead of how I wanted it. Unfortunately for them I wasn't pressed for time that day so I turned around and went back to get it straightened out. When the manager I asked to see came waddling her fat ass up there rolling her eyes I knew this was going to be a different experience. When I said that the Whopper wasn't made right she said "How the hell do you know?" so I calmly proceeded to dismantle the entire burger on the front counter making sure that every component was far enough apart so there wasn't any confusion. I then asked her "Can you read? If so please read what is on my ticket and tell me how that is what I ordered." Got a refund and went on my way.

I like you. You know how to do everybody's job and don't mind telling them they don't know what they're doing.

I've had some good places, some bad places, and some that are "hit or miss"... But let me say I LIKE having human interaction at my feeding troughs. :) (For instance, unless I'm in the grocery store with like 3 items or less, I refuse to use the kiosks.) but I do have my limitations.

For instance:

I was leaving the office, and while I was on the road, realized I'd
forgotten to pick up food for dinner.

I don't do phone calls on the road, I won't even do hands free, so no calling in.. you could be dying, I won't know until I get to a parking lot to stop the car.

So I stopped into the local PH to get a carry-out .. and the cashier looked at me like "what do I do?" (yes, he even had to get his manager up to help him out with a _carry out_ order.).

They say... 20-30 minute wait... no problem, I'm in no rush. Gotta feed the wife something, right?

40 minutes go by and the manager comes up to me and goes... "Now what did you have?".. I tell him and they completely forgot to start it because it "didn't come across their call-in screen".

And these guys think they can't be replaced by kiosks???

RE: Breaking News - Wendy's will pay their workers $15 per hour...
Anyone disputing the fact that paying higher wages for low skilled jobs results in losses of these same jobs due to automation is ignorant. To those making the argument that "service counter jobs were going away anyways and so were not lost due to minimum wage rate increases" completely miss the point. If low skilled jobs are being threatened due to $8/hr minimum wage rates, then WHY raise the rates to $15/hr? I'll tell you why - union workers. The minimum wage rate hikes are cheap victories for winning elections now. However, more importantly it helps provide pay raises to the more skilled union jobs that earn well north of the minimum wage. As stated many times before, union contracts have wage rates tied to minimum wage. If they go up, then workers at GM, Ford, etc will automatically get big pay raises too.

No one gives to craps about low skilled workers. They are simply the excuse given to give help to those whom they really want to help - the high earning union workers. I know a lot of union guys that can make 6 figures thru overtime. Getting an automatic $7/hr raise is making the "rich" richer, while the poor and unskilled have a lot more difficulties finding work. That's the truth, but you'll never hear it from those politicians supporting minimum wage hikes.

I love this.

Fast food employees don't deserve $15 an hour. Maybe this will shut the rest of them up. You are NOT special. You are REPLACEABLE. Shut up and do your job.

Fast food is not intended to be a career, except for maybe management. Working fast food is a good way to get SOME income, get something on your resume, and help you move on to bigger/better things.

Yes. It. Is.

It's like the left has zero clue how markets work.

It's the market's call to make. These auto kiosks appear to be the market's answer.

but the auto kiosks have been coming for a decade now...that's simple technological progression...technology only gets cheaper, and those workers will be replaced either way.

This isn't surprising considering that minimum-wage legislation is instituted for political and not economic reasons.

Not sure about that. Maybe you are right but didn't start hearing about them until all the $15/hour nonsense. It appears the protests have only served to speed up the arrival of said kiosks. Nevertheless, instead of looking for jobs that are intended to support a family, etc. they are protesting for more money for jobs never meant to support a family and that are just going away anyway. It kind of makes me realize why those folks are in those jobs in the first place.

I don't like you because you are the typical leftist ******* journalist who thinks they are so much better than everybody else when the fact is you are the lowest common denominator in society.

Then I suggest you ban all fast food establishments who choose to pay their workers $15 an hour.

Even the cooks aren't safe apparently:

Entirely run by robots!

Quote:“[T]he Bank of England is preparing for automation to shed 80 million American jobs and 15 million British jobs within the next 10 to 20 years. This is approximately 50% of the U.S. and British workforce. Forbes has put the number at 45%.”

There is no need to ban things, because conservatives will simply, and happily, let the market decide if a Royal with Cheese is worth $7.95.

Yes, I am aware. Please note my comment didn't say that the Royal with Cheese was $7.95 because of wages.

Then why would they raise the price? Because more people could afford it?

Let's see, why would the price go up?

High taxes
Onerous government regulations
Permits, licenses and dues
Affordable Care Act and other employee benefits
Rent
Utilities
Equipment, maintenance and upgrades
Insurance
Shrink and loss
Payment delays
Credit card fees
Professional services

and

Mandated minimum wages.
