RE: Is Big 12 Expansion Falling Apart?
The Big East, due to its basketball-brand and consistent success, will always be lumped together with the power five in basketball. While they will never sponsor FBS football again, they still provide excellent value and viewership to the other conferences (and networks). Villanova winning the National Championship last year (after years of doubts from media/fans after the split) cemented the league's status as a basketball power conference.

Having said that, the Big East still needs to continue to build itself and consistently get 5-6 teams in the tournament each year, with a few teams having deep runs each year. That was never possible in just one, two or three years. If the league and its members continue to do that year-in and year-out, then all doubts will be removed from a perception perspective. I believe in a few years, the league's ground as a power basketball conference (once again) alongside the P5 will be firmly established.
