Mass Hysteria
In Texas which is an "Open Carry" state, law enforcement is urging people not to dress as creepy clowns because they don't want anyone to get shot.

Here in El Paso, the local news is urging people to also not dress as a creepy clown or use Halloween as an opportunity to scare people.

Thanks a lot for ruining Halloween open carry scaredy cats.

It's not a reach at all. People on this very forum have already said that they would shoot a creepy clown if they saw one. 05-nono

but the fact that clowns are chasing kids and threatening to attack people has nothing to do with it right?

DID YOU GET YOUR STRETCH YET?

Still one hell of a reach there Fit. I mean, yes, if said creepy clown was coming at someone with a knife, then by all means shoot the idiot. The clown idiots going around harassing people are to blame here, and no one else.

Tell that to law enforcement.

Frankly, I was surprised that they came out and said such a thing. They pretty much guaranteed that some kid in a clown suit is going to get shot.

I've said the best way to deal with these "clowns in the woods" targeting children pop culture ruse as of late would be to shoot one and you will not be bothered again by this crap.

If this is really happening since there are no photos of this, in an age where most everyone has a cell phone. Casei in point , the false statement by the guy in Winston-Salem, NC a few weeks ago; which led to his arrest on reporting a falsehood to police.

But it's a clown issue not a gun issue.

RE: Mass Hysteria
Well let me ask this,

in Texas, with whatever laws are on the books, what do you think would happen if a person simply jumped out from around a corner -- meaning just to scare the bejebus out of some stranger, ie being a tool but nothing else -- and the guy shot him?

And I'm not talking about something like "WHAAA ..... you SOB! you do you think you are!?! *blam*"

I'm talking about "WHAAAAJEBUS *blam* HOLYSHIIIII!!!"

Guessing it has never happened.

But it's a clown issue not a gun issue.

To this date, there is still no evidence that these "creepy clowns " are doing anything illegal.

However, law enforcement in Texas are now urging people to not dress up or risk getting shot.

So now the scaredy cat gun carrying community now basically have free reign to shoot a clown and get away with it.

They'll just say their life was in danger and presto. They walk.

It's against the law to hide your identity in public, a mask over your face! So yes they are breaking a law, IF any of this is true in the first place.

On another note Fit, how's your gun shopping and research going? I know more than a few of us haven offered our assistance.

If it's against the law to hide your identity in public, does this mean that people have the right to shoot any kids that come trick or treating at your door?

I looked at a couple of guns at Gander Mountain. A taurus?

IDK, No one really offered advice except for one person who asked me to PM him but I couldn't because he had me on ignore. 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

You are two for two in the "stretching it" department in this tread alone so far. No idea how you came to that conclusion either.

Suggestion someone would shoot a clown costumed six year old that is knocking on their door is just plain asinine.

What would I know about names and models? I just saw a couple of this brand of gun that looked like it would fit well in my hand and had a reasonable price.

I'm not looking for anything fancy. Like I said, I'm going to be camping in remote locations. I just need something that will scare a bear.

No one is suggesting that. However, there are many teen aged children that like to walk around and have fun on Halloween. I would hate for one of them to get shot and possibly killed for jumping out of a bush and scaring some kids.
