I think the AAC should add 4 teams. Add to the East Div.: Army and UMass and add to the West Div.: Air Force & Colorado State.

AF, CSU, Army, and one more (Southern Miss maybe if BYU isn't an option) should be the only realistic options if the B12 does nothing.

Army and UMASS are real possibilities. However, there is no upside for CSU and Air Force to join the AAC. See my previous post.
Now of ESPN/FOX/CBS or whoever assured all teams of $5 million a year, that would be a different story. There is just no indication of this being a reality.

New TV contract up in 1 yr. Maybe by adding ( Army, UMass, Air Force, & Colorado State (Denver TV market) the AAC could obtain a few more bucks. It also makes a great FB & BB conference with some stability for the future. Who knows, wishful thinking is fun. It also adds some good Geo. rivalry games.

Upside for CSU/AF: All 3 academies, Denver market, state of Colorado, built in rivalry, ability to move Memphis to the East where they need to be.

Only Army and BYU (both football only) make any sense financially for us. We do not want to follow the CUSA model and add bad teams just because we can. I would still love to add Wichita for BBall and Olympic Sports.

Air Force is a bad team? CSU isn't half bad either and AF would want to bring them along.
USM has finally shed their winless season and is looking mighty good plus they have a history with most of us.

BYU is satisfied with their current position.
Army is staying independent until it is no longer allowed.

You nailed it goodknightfl
We all know do to instability the AAC was given an embarrassing crappy peanut crumbs for the birds tv deal.
You right goodknightfl, if the AAC remains intact there's no reason at all this league should get a deserving $$$ bump.
That said, I don't think we should add anyone... Hell, if the AAC decided to go after someone Wichita State to offset Navy would be my only choice.
Leave the western (mwc) teams in their island, the AAC doesn't need any of them.

Give it a rest. No one is going any where until:
A. The Big 12 decides what it is doing.
B. The AAC contract period is closer to a year from ending.
Enjoy the AAC games this year. The league is tight. On any given Saturday...
.
The Big 12 isn't going to do anything, because the money is not materializing; this is exactly why Aresco needs to add 2 teams that bring value before the contract renegotiation, otherwise we will end up with a reduced TV contract like CUSA. If you think being an ostrich and burying your head in the sand like the Big 12 is a good move (rather than being proactive), say hello to the Dodo for me.
You can wish all you want, none of those teams have a compelling reason to leave their existing situations. The money is not there.
.
Actually, BYU doesn't get that much for their home games and they have no shot at an access bowl, outside of going undefeated and making the playoff (fat chance). Additionally, the MWC TV contract is worth less than the AAC's and offers way less coverage.
You're wrong on both accounts but you do what makes you feel good.
I'm actually right about both, moron; the American's contract is worth $2.5 million a year, while the MW is worth $1.64 million. http://www.mwcconnection.com/mountain-we...er-schools

Yeah bsu has gone downhill lol. They turned down this conference because of TooLame taking sdsu with them. Umass, niu etc will be the pool of teams added to the AAC if anyone. It's a shame the AAC couldn't add any more mwc teams and settled on more cusa schools. It killed the perception of a best of the rest conference.

Does that include the bonus money distributed by boise's ESPN deal? For instance Wyoming got around 1 million in bonus money the last 2 years for a total of over 2.5 a year the AAC makes.

No, it didn't; every talking head on TV agrees that the AAC is the best G5 conference. We already have a scheduling agreement with BYU and if Aresco can get a network to guarantee, let's say 10 million, if two of the four aforementioned schools come aboard, it could happen.

You think a scheduling agreement with byu is special lol. Byu is a de facto member of the mwc with how many games they play against mwc. And how did bsu get the access bowl out in 2014? Why are the tv deals so similar? The mwc has been the best G5 leage for so long it's nice to have some competition. This leage ain't getting 10 million a year or 5. Why would they?

No, it doesn't, but some teams in the MWC only got 300k in bonus money; so yes, when Boise wins a NY6 bowl, of course they will make more than the average AAC team, because of the uneven distribution. However, when an AAC team wins the NY6, it's distributed evenly and all AAC teams come out ahead of MWC teams; add in the NCAA tournament BBall units and the AAC kicks the MWC monetarily year in, year out.
