So if the playoffs started today, A&M would be in?

Yeah... BUT, to be fair, it's not a ranking to see gets into the playoffs. It really isn't. That's ONLY at the end-of-the-season.

As pointed out, Texas A&M's remaining schedule strength goes down, and Washington's goes up considerably when comparing the two. In a nutshell Washington will pass them if they remain undefeated.

At the same time, I think they go by less of what's Earned and more of sureness-of-betting-odds. Washington is "new" way up there. WMU is "new" in rankings. Both are ranked a step below because of it. It's almost as if History adds to SoS a bit, in a different way. :)

In the end, if Washington wins out, they have #4 spot, hands down.

Bama blew out A&M, but it was at home. I do think there is a bias against rematches. Washington just needs to win the CCG with a loss elsewhere. I don't see UL and A&M getting in over conference champions with the same record. Potentially UM with one loss could slip in ahead of Washington. Style points will matter and blowouts or home losses will be penalized.

The toughest part of their schedule is ahead.

Can't do that with Clemson and Louisville, since they have already played. That leaves Louisville out of the top four, and maybe even the top six, until unbeaten conference leaders get knocked off.

I expect Auburn and LSU to start ranked higher than Texas A&M because they haven't yet played Alabama and the Aggies have.

Alabama
Michigan
Clemson
Ohio State
Washington
LSU
Auburn
Louisville
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Florida
Wisconsin

As I recall from Sagarin, Baylor was around 89 in SOS and UW was just in front of them at 88. (maybe it was 88 and 87). Point being that UW has had an easy schedule so far and the pollsters aren't factoring that in, but the committee might.

Nice try...
Washington 69
Baylor 97

Washington has had a soft schedule- but it's no where near the putridness of Baylor.

It was the week before. Utah jumped them up quite a bit.
Rutgers, Idaho, Portland St. and struggling Oregon, Stanford, Arizona and Oregon St. (those 4 a combined 12-20).

And Baylor jumped up a bunch as well last week- playing a Texas team that is currently 35. Maybe not quite as much of a jump as Washington, but still a big jump.

Washington could lose to USC, though the game is in Seattle.

I think they'd still control their destiny, beating WA St to get into the CCG vs Colorado. Win CCG --> into CFP.

Didn't realize the Huskies schedule was that weak OOC. Yeah, they will need to run the table.
