Semenov was a legit 6th year. Smith will be a 5th year.

I think Smith also missed a year due to injury at his first college so it would be year 6 at JMU this year.
He has battled through injuries everywhere and deserves to have better luck, but we know the knee has been a consistent problem.

If that were the case with Smith, wouldn't it be on the JMU website? Wouldn't he be listed on the roster?

Speaking of 2018 recruiting, saw Lindy's hoops preview last night. They pick the Dukes 7th and only have Mosley listed among the top ten players in the league upon quick glance. On the positive side, they said that Flowers can play 4 positions and is an impactful recruit.

Curious who the teams in front of us are. Clearly Northeastern is the favorite. Charleston, Hofstra and W&M have to be up there as well. I think the Dukes are among the next group. Maybe UNCW because Cacot will be a Senior and likely dominant player inside again.

I think the league will be solid this year but positions 6-10 I don't see how the Dukes aren't the most talented based on what other teams have coming back. Towson lost a lot and is IMO always overrated, Delaware lost one of their better players to transfer. Elon graduated some guys and wasn't real good last year- who knows maybe they surprise like they did a couple of years ago. Drexel lost their best player to transfer.

Would expect and love to see JMU compete with Hofstra, W&M and UNCW for the 3-4-5 spots. I think that and a 10-8 or better league record is what we should expect based on who we have coming back, and the continuity of the program in year 3 under Rowe and his staff.

Christian Guess from Ohio- a one time JMU recruiting target landed on his feet by nabbing a late scholarship to Missouri for 2018. Guess is a very talented wing who's recruitment was a little head scratching. At one point WVU was considering him. Mizzou had a player who just retired due to a leg injury so a scholarship opened and Guess (who I believe was ticketed for post grad) slid in.

It would be nice to have the added depth and I liked his athleticism. His knee may also not be ready. My daughter has had two surgeries on torn ACL and meniscus and even with someone athletoc like she is, it takes a while to regain the strength and movement and to trust the knee again.

IMO these guys do a nice job with their CAA preview (and other conferences for that matter). They mix in some advanced stats and go way deeper than the big magazines.

These guys have JMU as tier 2 and 5th which I think is fair. Dukeman2 will be sad to see that they are pretty high on Hinkle.
