FWIW, I'd heard from someone very close to athletics that those pictures were still just old-ish renderings (note the old/outdated JMU logo used on the floor while the one on the wall is updated) and that many details, including seat color, were not yet finalized.

Gary, thanks. Now can you ask that person if the chair colors will all be purple?

WITH A BAR.

The gold seats HAVE to go! Come on administration ... Didn't we learn anything from the gold seats in Bridgeforth? I get that they want to make those seats "special" in some way, but those empty gold seats wouldn't look nearly as bad if they were empty PURPLE seats!

Have you picked up the phone to ask Jeff Bourne? Seriously call him and ask/express your interest.

In fact, I have had a face-to-face conversation about this with Jeff. He said that he would let "the group" making those decisions know about that and thanked me for my thoughts. He went on to say the way to get things like this accomplished/changed is to let your voice be heard. Thus, my reason for others to do likewise. He is also responsive to emails.

Gary, can you ask them when that detail might be finalized? That would be great inside information!

Official ground breaking tomorrow (Friday). Nice! Still a little surprised it is going to take 2 1/2 years to get this ready.

Why are you surprised about the construction timeline? This is a huge project, site prep alone is going to require a significant amount of work. I'll actually be happily surprised if it opens on schedule in November of 2020.

Not that JMU is ever not doing construction, but IMO we're about to have two of the most major campus construction projects running simultaneously...the Union AND the new business building. Both are extremely sorely needed for both areas and are on some pretty tight timelines. 2020 will be a great year for JMU if both are completed on time.

Also do not overlook the new dorm that is currently under construction on the old softball field. Lots of construction going on right now and in the near future. And once the new D Hall is done aren't they supposed to start renovating PC Dukes etc?

PC Dukes being demolished, complete new building going in in place of it. Wilson is being gutted and new interior put back in. Blue Ridge Hall being demolished. Parking deck going in place beside the new arena. Converse Hall being demolished for Business Addition. Chik-Fil_A being removed for staging area for Wilson redo, Just to mention a few changes this summer.

Another big parking garage is also being built on Grace Street.

Duke Dawg said he'll have it all done by 9pm tonight.

He has a hard stop at 9 though because he's hitting the bars after that. Said something about if he didn't have it finished by 9, he'd be done by noon tomorrow (give or take a couple of hours depending on severity of hangover).

04-cheers

Josh Walfish ✡️ @Josh_DNRSports
#JMU athletics director Jeff Bourne hinted to me that the school is close-ish to nailing down an opponent to open the Union Bank & Trust Center.

I'm think UVA, Richmond, Va Tech, Duke, Eastern Mennonite or Bridgewater.

03-thumbsup
