RE: Coaching Carousel
The spike in coaches following Tony Shaver and his staff has subsided. Of those who followed, Ace Custis (UMES), Jarren Dyson (Lafayette), and Kevin Jones (Norfolk State) were the D1 coaches with VA ties. Each one followed multiple Tribe coaches but Dyson was the only one who got a followback (from Austin Shaver).

RE: Coaching Carousel
I found it interesting that JD Dyson and Austin Shaver started following 2019 SC wing Shane McCravy on the same day last week. Looks like Dyson is still actively recruiting for Lafayette and his recruiting area overlaps Shaver’s.

Kevin Jones started following the Tribe mbb account this weekend. Could mean nothing but the timing is interesting.

Application deadline is Friday so if any if y’all want the gig you better hurry!

This may be old news but I saw that an assistant from Texas got the UNC Asheville head coach job that Kotie interviewed for.

RE: Coaching Carousel
I can't see it happening, but there was even online talk about Jamion Christian leaving MSM to be an assistant to Shaka again at Texas. I'm sure UT coaches make good money, but he has a pretty stable situation going on at his alma mater.

RE: Coaching Carousel
Best I can see, Jamion makes just under $200k at MSM (could have gone up with his recent extension) and Darrin Horn (Texas assistant) makes just north of $300k. Not sure that's enough of a pay bump to warrant giving up your own program (plus your alma mater) where they love you - especially if your success could provide a path to higher profile programs.

If he's a good coach he will want to move to a bigger program to eventually be a head coach again. Money buys you freedom to do things later in life. I don't consider staying at MSM a great long term opportunity

Problem with following Smart to Texas is no guarantee Smart will last two more years, and you're back looking for a job.

Got a real gem! Will be a great addition to Tribe program!

Saw this tweet from a New Hampshire sports/academic guy which may have simply been in reference to Nate's promo video for OTOD, but the future tense threw me. He doesn't follow WMTribeMBB, and no mention of Nate in the original video tweet. Wild thought about Kimball Union's HC, Mike Olson, if he were a possible replacement for Kotie? Nine years at KUA, 20 previous years in college ranks. Certainly a Shaver connection. Strong New England recruiting connections. Williamsburg is a nice, warmer place to retire to, if kids now grown.

Then again, it was probably just in reference to Nate's video.

Some discussion about Julian Boatner coming to W&M to take the place of Kotie. Very possible.

RE: Coaching Carousel
Dyson now following Coaching Changes. Wouldn’t mean anything except I remember Kimble following Coaching Carousel earlier this year which in hindsight feels like an omen. Coaching Changes’ tone is a little more difficult to decipher but they mention Christian being in the mix for the FIU job. Boatner also follows Coaching Changes. Based on some of his follows Boatner’s recruiting area looks like MD/DC/VA.

RE: Coaching Carousel
Looks like Austin Shaver is doing more 2019 recruiting in VA. Is he just filling in for Kimble until a replacement is found or is this his new territory?

Could reflect the current, thin recruiting budget, as previously mentioned.

There have, also, been some in state AAU games/events in early April, before all of the circuits get cranking.

I wonder if Julian Boatner would rather go to Sienna with Jamion or come back to the 'Burg if we are interested in him, or stay at MSM if that's an option.
