We just got out played. Simple as that. If MTSU plays that well here out look for at least the sweet 16. Best team we have played other than maybe Purdue or Villanova at full throttle.

Thanks for the kind words. We’re really firing on all cylinders. Good luck the rest of the year until/unless we meet again in the championship! That’s enough hate for now... two NCAA tournament caliber teams who deserve bids. We should be a two bid league this year.

If we play Middle again, which I seriously doubt, I don’t think we make it that far, they will beat us like soft little bitttttches again. Kermit currently owns Stansbury. Either Rick has no idea how to attack a 1-3-1 or can’t transfer that knowledge to his team.

I don’t think we beat UAB Saturday for that matter. We have a shot in that game but it looks like UAB got well at home tonight. We were going to have to win the tourney anyway.

Do we have a chance to win this thing? Sure. But not unless someone else knocks out Middle and Middle will win Saturday to finish up one hella two year run of busting CUSA ass to the tune of 32-2.

Think about that one. Only 2 teams in 2 years have been able to beat them. I think the only team in our conference this year that even has a shot at them is Marshall. They did it once and weren’t even going nuts from 3 in that one. If Marshall have can a Marshall kind of night in Friscoe they might give somebody else a shot at going to the NCAA.

Good game Middle.

well i drove up from Atanta, To see my Tops get beat, there are no excuses here.
Your team excuted and we did not

Kermit is a class guy , he said WKU is an NCAA team after the game.

Congrats on the Championship.
See you next week in Frisco[/i]

I wouldn’t count on that one amigo. I’m not sure we win again this year. I don’t see us winning at UAB Saturday on their Senior night. UAB has the talent to win against us. I saw that talent firsthand in Diddle. They have 2 great bigs in Cokley and Lee. Norris is hella point god. And the Bryant kid was one of the best freshmen I saw come into Diddle this year.

To make matters worse I believe they’ll end up the 6 seed. Guess who we’d play as the 3 seed in our first tourney game? UAB.

Could we win Saturday? Sure. My gut says we won’t. If we somehow bounce back from this beatdown I will be very, very impressed with both Stans and our team.

That 2nd half was a good old fashioned butt whoopin! It amazes me that our team looked almost as bad this game as they did in the first against the 1-3-1.

There is too much talent on that team for this to happen. So much so that I don't believe we can beat them three times in the same season. What do you say tops...Act 3 in a week or so?

This the first time in my life I have come away from a double digit loss pretty confident we’ll win the rematch. But I am just that. IF we meet in the tourney I like WKU’s chances.

That takes nothing away from Middle tonight. You were tremendous. However, I don’t think your role players are capable of playing like they did tonight, collectively, ever again.

I disagree. Not saying we for sure beat you a 3rd time, but our "role players" have played that way all season long. That is our style of game and we have an incredibly deep bench. Not a fluke.

The WKU MT rivalry is awesome. When you guys kick our tails, I hate you. When we beat you guys, I love it.

Had a blast at the game ... Could we meet in the tourney again??? Could we go for a threepeat?

I thought Thompson was gonna get into foul trouble early on but after the 2 threes, not a lot of production afterwards. You guys are good. I don't know how selection committees look at the CUSA but the fact that we may not have 2 teams dancing is ridiculous. The fact that there are still questions whether or not MT is in baffles me.

I could hear chants of "Lonnie" when Darius had the ball. I saw him turn around and look, at least once.

His dad, from what I've been told, tried to make a package deal -- his son if we would hire the old man as an assistant. He would have made more here as an assistant than he was making as HC at Cumberland U.

I have heard that there was a very good relationship between Kermit and Darius, but Lonnie would not let him come here, after we didn't make the hire.

So little Lonnie went East to the prison-jumpsuit arnge team.

Don't know if true. Just what I've been told.

The difference in the game last night, for MT, in my opinion was Brandon Walters and true freshman point guard Donovan Sims, making just his second start.

As a buddy told me last night, Tyrik Dixon just got "Wally Pipped".

Walters played the game of his life. He outplayed Coleby from the tip. He played with more emotion, and was way more physical. BTW... why does Giddy always wanna fight? He’s too good for that crap.

He doesn't. He kept getting grabbed and was getting pissed because it wasn't getting called. I've never seen him get that angry before but he was being grabbed constantly and not once was it called all night.

Walters has played like that many times. There was nothing extraordinary about that game. He dominated Colby. Foul trouble keeps him off the floor a lot.

Went back and watched some of this game. Sims could be a huge "addition" to you guys. I was very much impressed with him. I've always thought Dixon was the weak link on the team and it looks like you guys might have found a way to upgrade that (though I'm sure Sims will come with inconsistency).

If we (ODU) happen to meet WKY again, I'm hoping we try more of the 1-3-1 zone we have occasionally featured. WKY isn't a terrible shooting team, but I don't think it is there strength and they certainly aren't volume 3 point shooters..so try to keep them out of the lane and stop fouling them (where they hurt a lot of teams).

For MTSU, Johnson has been such a huge addition. Seems like he really took off after the ODU game (or around that timeframe).

I've always felt Dixon isn't a true point. He seems better suited at the 2. I think Sims will start at PG next year if not the rest of the year.

Agreed. Sims is a true PG and, for a freshman, he is a fantastic one.

RE: 100 Miles of Hate Part 2
A complete beat down and a very good coached game for Middle....

you play the way the refs let you...its up to each team to adjust. Western did not adjust and the physical play is something this Western team can not adjust to.

Oh, they also don't seem to be able to guard anyone out of the 1-3-3....looked like middle school defense out of Western. The fact we stayed in that defense for extended periods and then kept going back to it...

makes zero sense

Middle out played and out coached this Western team.....you would think this Western team never saw a 1-3-1 zone before. I the end Middle had better players, better coaching, better game plan.

Now if Western meets Middle in the tourney....better hope for a off shooting night. Which is very possible considering the depth behind the baskets at the Ford Center.

My #1 concern about Stansbury .....

when playing against a team with the same amount of talent (or better) his teams lose way more often than they win. I still have that concern...still hoping that is just my view and not reality.

Old fashion butt kicking last night

For a kid averaging 1 pt a game, he looked like an All American against us, I guess he was hyped too about the game....
