Louisville's next coach
Here's a good list to keep in mind while discussing the openings at Louisville & Pitt. $ wise I would say that Jay Wright is in play for Louisville.

Can someone explain why Roy Williams is #41 on that list?

Jay Wright would mean waiting until after the final four most likely. Worth the wait ? If You can't land Him, You likely risk losing other High level coaches already out to other schools. Granted , Wright would be the cream of the crop.

* Asterisk means additional information about the coach's compensation is available by clicking on the number shown.

Quote:School pay includes $1.65 million in annual supplemental pay Williams receives if he is the school's head coach on the final day of the team's season. According to the university, Williams also has personal contracts with Nike and Learfield for clothing/apparel and multi-media obligations, respectively, as well as permission from the school to receive pay for operating a camp and making speaking appearances. The university declined to release further information about either of those agreements.

I'm guessing those "personal contracts" pay him enough to heat the trailer in the winter.

It doesn't include all of hid income. He has a seperate contract with Nike which is rumored to be in the 500,000 to million range. Plus his radio,tv, personal apperance income, so he is doing just fine

Tyra to interview UK assistant & former UL player Kenny Payne for the HC job. Apparently this is to placate a group of former players.

What is expected this week? Tyra will be named the permanent AD on or around Monday & Mack will be named the HC on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Should be a big week for the Cards. Rumors has the UofL paying Mack around $4 million a year.

I like KP ,but seriously if We were to bring in a rookie HC, We we would have kept DP. He has 1 year under His belt and won 22 games. Also KP has no long term relationship coaching many of His recruits for Cal as most only stay 1 year. We don't need a bunch of 1 and dones. Most UK fans I know have grown very tired of Their school being a revolving door for the NBA which They feel is Coach Cals only real interest anyway.

Absolutely. I would rather keep Padgett than bringing in Payne. I thank Kenny for his playing days under Crum & I would welcome him as an assistant but not as the HC. He would need to get some HC experience first. I don't mind the courtesy interview though.

Vince Tyra named as the UofL permanent AD by a unanimously vote by the university's Athletic Association board.

No, but his wife grew up there (her family is still there). She went to the University of Dayton.

Yeah it’s one of the worst kept secrets ever. Supposedly an X recruit said today he was told by an assistant they are recruiting him for Louisville now.

Might work out He will schedule Cincinnati again with Louisville to have games there. Doubt Xavier will be wanting to .. would love to have UC back in Basketball and Football.

I can see the basketball rivalry resuming soon but I think it will take awhile in football with UofL signing on with USF & UCF recently.

Agreed. Barring some sort of cataclysmic change in the football landscape, I don't see us playing in football again for a long time. Both of our schedules are pretty much full going out to 2025 save for a few open dates.

I would not be surprised to see us resume the basketball rivalry within the next two seasons. I had always heard from our AD that the reason UC and UofL did not play in hoops the past few years was because of a gentleman's agreement between Mick Cronin and Coach Pitino. They were and are still very close.

If Mack is the guy and UC and UofL resume their BB rivalry, it will alter our history significantly. UC fans hate Mack as much as you all hated Huggins (maybe more).
