Guys, give him a break. Like most Marshall fans he had disappeared until Marshall became good in football again. Also, he has no where else to go. Not enough fans to keep the Marshall board running or up to date. He needs a home.

4)Man or Zone it didn't matter, ODU didn't score enough
5)Jeff Jones is 114-58 and has never got ODU over the hump and to the dance, I guess I can give you props on your 2016 Vegas16, I mean Vegas8 Championship.


There are more than a few ODU fans on this board that think they are above this conference, when in reality ODU hasn't done crap in this conference since joining.

Here's the simple truth, Id take this D'Antoni coached team over any ODU team has put on the floor the last 10 years, including your 2010 team.

Here is a simple truth: marshall is not a basketball school and never will be. And our 2010 team would kick the teeth in of any team you have ever put on the floor. But we don’t need that team, we handle you easily with any team we put on the floor now. Stick to what marshall is good at: football and coal mining.

Their typical year will be pod two or three.

Only if JJ cant land a quality D1 game ready center/pf. We're one good player away from what should be a pretty good team. If he gets someone as good or better than Porter, ODU should be a contender for the championship.

I think y'all are underselling Kalu and Reece. They're the two most skilled freshmen big men we've recruited since Alex Loughton and the most athletic big men we've recruited since Richard Ross. They should both make an immediate impact as freshmen (6 pts and 4 reb) and both could be very special as sophomores.

I realize they are two very different players, but after the hype of Heuitt and Godwin last season as our best recruiting class in years (which amounted to them playing 6 minutes a game if they were lucky), I have tempered my expectations on recruits. I will allow myself to be pleasantly surprised though.

I would hope we all learned a lesson from that last year. I'm with you, 09

So you are guaranteeing that both of them are more skilled than Gerald Lee was coming into the program? They may well be more athletic than Gerald was, but he did have plenty of skills as a 6'-10" freshman.

Yes...I can't wait to be pleasantly surprised. I like the hype and all that is the recruiting ranking systems, but when it comes to our recruits for the past decade, I'll believe it when I see it.

I think there are some differences between the incoming freshman and last years class. Im cool with tempering expectations though.

1. Reece is a significantly better prospect than either Hueitt or Godwin. Just much much higher rated. Not only that, but they both had to compete against each other as well as Stith, Haynes, and Green for playing time. Reece, OTOH, is probably the highest rated recruit we have had in several years (Palmore?)

Ekipke is a little more raw, IMO, but athletically, he's very ready. They really don't have a ton of competition to have to earn playing time. They might be forced to play.

Where do you find the type of information or tape that enables you to make these conclusions? I hope you're not just using highlights, cause they couldn't be any more misleading, IMO. I was a bit surprised that Reece didn't make 1st, 2nd or 3rd team All Metro in STL last year from the Post Dispatch.

At this point, you can see full game coverage of a lot of high school recruits; either through league games or AAU. I've seen multiple full games from Reece and Ezikpe. I have not focused on Wade too much. I've also seen Vaughn play vs. McClung in the state title game.

But, also just following recruiting talk, especially on twitter and recruiting rankings.

Im not sure why he wasn't all district last year, but in 17 he was first team and won back to back state titles.

Also, I know Hueitt had some decent offers, but I don't think Godwin or Hueitt had an offer the level of Kansas State like Reece did.

I thought Hueitt had an offer from Louisville.

I got my information on Reece from one of the most active basketball refs in St. Louis (refs about 50 games per week). He couldn't speak high enough about Reece. He said the only knock on him is strength--which should come with a college level S&C program. He said he has a really high ceiling and should be able to compete immediately in CUSA.
