Not according to those that attended. I’ve heard from multiple people that it was a much better experience than B’ham

lol I'm sure the la tech fan did hear that.

Needs to be in Bham/Nashville/Charlotte most years.

The MT folks I spoke too were not too thrilled with it.

But that might have been due to our early first-game exits in both men and women, which hasn't happened in a loong time.

I was there for every game. It was indeed bush league.

As far as the two court set up, I'll liked the fact the Stadium broadcast could cut away to the other matchup when drama ensued.

For example, Marshall and UTSA fans could check real time to the madness of the Southern Miss overtime win during our game. I happened to enjoy that aspect.

It's just about time to show some of us eastern based teams some love.

You do not know that (bold part) a fan...FAN on a messageboard told you this.

As for the tourney I thought it was 100% better ran than B'ham. I thought it was more fan friendly, than B'ham. Even by the time we add in another $120 on gas it was way cheaper than B'ham

As for the two courts I loved it. It gave you a chance to watch which ever game that got close. Anyone that says they go to watch EVERY game played and every minutes of all games...having 2 going at once take away from that. You are a very rare bird....1 in a million fan.

Pay $35 and you get to watch your team play plus 3 other games. Check the score on your phone and S. Miss looks like they are hanging with Middle. So you leave court B and 10 seconds later you are watching the game of the tourney till that point.

No one trying to get every freaking dollar out of a fan like UAB...$3.75 fees on tickets, $10 parking and yellow shirts trying to keep someone from moving down from row S to one of the other open 1000 seats that are open. None of that at Frisco. Free parking, not extra fees, hell they gave you a free chicken meal with coke from Raisin Cain. Which was a 5 minute walk from the Ford Center. That's with every ticket . All tickets are GA so fans find a seat and sit down. The fans from the game before get up and let the teams playing have the closer seats.

Don't have to pay $200 bucks and still get a dump of a hotel. 100s of people out front running around playing games, even small kids....lets try that one at B'ham. Walk out of the arena to some great smelling food and pack bar. If you used event parking you had a short walk but lights every where. Very safe, feel to it.

Tourney should be for the fans (other than they players/teams)....B'ham made it about UAB and working to get every penny in your pocket

What a great city Frisco is and other than a illness we will be back. Easy to get around, food in every area and way more than enough of cheap to mid range hotels. Some great deals if you know how to work PriceLine . I do have one complaint....

No Diversity! Not people but homes and most buildings....seems like someone said here's 5 plans every one pick one. And one other....not a lot of older neighborhood and buildings. Seems like this place was all build in the last 20 years.

We drove all over the place and I bet with in 12 miles I saw well over 1000 homes being built from what looked like 350k up. Went by to see the Tyler (I think that its) football stadium. Looks a lot like Texas St, which is one of the nicer ones in G5

Very much agree. Not a fan of the setup at all and I let our AD know. People talking about the TV experience vs the in game experience...I'm here to tell you both were amateur hour.

Also, our AD told us Frisco put in a bid for exactly $0 to host this tournament. Birmingham put in a bid for $500k and El Paso bid $1M. So in a conference where every school desperately could use more money to compete, let's take the option that gives everyone zero dollars!

I had heard that Judy and her cronies got into a tiff with UAB brass, and that's why Birmingham was out of the picture. It was a "personal" thing. It was not about what was best for the conference.

And I heard that she ate at Chico's Tacos on a visit to El Paso, got the runs and immediately ruled UTEP out as a tournament host. 02-13-banana

Maybe move the tournament up a week too. The men can play at MGM Grand Garden Arena, the women can do early rounds at the Cox Pavilion at UNLV and then slide over to MGM. No more of the two courts at the same time nonsense. Yes, it is further for the Eastern schools. But it's Vegas. I will consider going to Vegas for four days even if I think we are going to get bounced on day one. I could get my girlfriend to come too and I can only get her in The Ted two, maybe three, times a year. I'm not doing to do either for the current nightmare setup in Frisco. Is Vegas a great idea? No. Is it an awful idea? I have no idea but the optics are better than playing at JerryWorld Light in Frisco.

no way.....if you want the casino life, the MS Coast would be better....nobody in vegas gives two shites about conference couscous.....

I know TGS pointed out the lack of facilities for the women's side on the coast.....I ain't buying that.....

they could put the women in a HS gym.....that's basically what the setup was in Dallas anyway...

TV doesn't matter for the women.....hell, it barely matters for the men....

the bottom line is from TN to our northern most school is where the hoops action/fanbase is at....put it somewhere up there....at least more people will show up....

if you really wanted to get creative, hold the final at the highest seeded team with a day break between the semis and the finals.....then you'd really get some local interest....yeah, the visitor would have to adjust, but so what???

that's actually pretty dayum sporty there.....

I like that better than my 'creative idea'.....and it easily beats the livin' shite out of not having a tourney altogether....

it also ensures not having a bad loss like MT endured (sorry guys, we hosed ya on that one)

If it were up to me---I'd give the regular season conference winner a bye into the championship game. The rest of the teams would be fighting for the right to play them for a one-and-done. A good seed isnt really all that big a reward for winning a 18 game season. Make the regular season mean more.

So far I've yet to see a UAB fan say they liked the tournament, and I've yet to see a La Tech fan say they didn't like the tournament. Distance matters.
