IIRC, wbb teams are allowed two more scholarship players than men's teams are. Make them even with the men's numbers and more talent is spread out more evenly and wbb will be more competitive, but hey that is too much like equality, and title IX was not meant for that.

IIRC, the "equality" goal is something like "#women scholarships for all sports" = "#mens scholarships for all sports."

Football accounts for a huge proportion of most colleges' mens' athletic scholarships, so to try to balance the overall scholarship books, schools tend to sponsor more womens' sports and more scholarships in those sports.

Yea sucks we lost MCH, but I understand her issues, was only 5th highest paid coach in CUSA which was a slap in the face compared to her achievements....WKU just could not pay her anymore and womens basketball has zero parity and pretty much 1 great team and 3 other good teams and that's it...Just sucks she is going to a place where average attendance was 427 people this past season and has zero success in women's basketball, that is the most disappointing part but you cannot blame her, these budget cuts suck!

I think Collins will be fine as long as he gets a recruiter in who can continue recruiting at a high level, he has already proven developing players is an area he is very strong in....

Your reference to MCH salary position in CUSA got me looking. I found this reference, which links to a google doc that someone put together.

https://www.upressonline.com/2015/04/con...-database/
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...edit#gid=0

It is 3 years old. Do you have a better reference? I like how it has all sports.

That 2nd link (the spreadsheet) has LA Tech's Skip Holtz listed as a mens basketball coach, making $200,000 per year. 03-lmfao

The crap some of you people come up with. 01-wingedeagle

Im shocked. I thought she was a lifer at wku. Saying it again, i respected her more than any of our opponents. Her players represented wku well on and off the floor. They were always classy and clean looking.

CUSA programs this is your chance, we just lost our best recruit who was Miss Basketball in tenn. and ranked 60th nationally.....We for sure will be rebuilding for at least one season and its looks like our stranglehold over this conference is coming to an end...I think this guy will be fine, but he will need to hire some assistants who are strong in recruiting....

I'm just waiting for Title IX to come in on the difference in pay for coaches.

Coach makes $1 million. Volleyball coach (a female) makes $100000.

The T9 argument: It's the same job (head coach) and the female makes a 10th of the pay. It's coming.

Surprised ole Insell let her get out of Tenn. His mafia recruiting is legendary. Must be getting soft in his latter years.

Honestly, I never knew this and agree that is a bad idea if true.

I used to follow women's bball fairly closely and watched the women's tourney once they got to the final 4, however I stopped and lost all interest in women's bball (outside of WKU of course) because of UCONN.

Weather the stranglehold ends depends on the guard play. At the first of the season i thought this year would be it because of Ivy brown being a sr. but the younger post girl is going to be very good. She is different because Ivy ran the floor well and could come out and hit a 3.
Rice and UAB are going to be the monsters for the next couple of years.

The big schools are more invested in women's basketball than they were in the 80s, which helped give schools like Louisiana Tech and ODU their window to success. But the best way to break UConn's dominance is if the big schools are willing to cheat for it like they are the men.

In women's basketball there are *typically* about 3 good teams and everyone else sucks.

I mean......a 1-seed just beat a 2 by like 30 freaking points and by all 7 accounts it wasn't even that close

Yes their are 2 tiers just about every season, no one else has a chance...We are so far behind the top 10 schools or so its not even close....Tier 1-UCONN; Tier 2-UofL, Notre Dame, Miss. St., South Carolina, Baylor. No one else has a chance.

I mean UConn just beat South Carolina by like 30 points, so hard to even put them on the same tier. At least this year. Even Tennessee sucks now

She did. They even upped there prior offer whatever that was. Thought she would jump at the chance to coach in the SEC. Have even a halfway decent season and your dancing. Suprised me. Must be something she really liked about Finch. Outside of money actually a less than lateral move to me.

Until Scheifer is gone from state om doesn't have a prayer of getting any players up there.
