UTEP/UTSA combination would be a good reach into Texas for the Mountain West. It may dilute the conference brand a little but no more than San Jose St does.

The AAC will soon be announcing the addition of Army and Air Force

Army is making bowl games and beating Navy, they won’t screw that up again by joining a conference.

Why would Air Force do that? Where are they moving all their other sports? They damn sure aren’t sending them to Connecticut and Florida.

I call BS.

The AAC Headquarters is moving to Dallas in 2 years (when the lease in Providence expires). That part is true. The rest is news to me---but it would be awesome if true.

Ahh yes. Now everything makes more sense.

Except where is AFA going to place its sports? Into the WCC? Perhaps an all-sport offer.

There's no way AFA goes to the Summit/Great Northern. Maybe if the WCC Would take them as a package with Denver they could make the AAC for FB only work.

That would mean Gonzaga leaves as both AFA and Denver basketball are dregs. The WAC would be a possibility, especially when they get upgraded schoools.

But the Great Northern footprint holds almost all the ballistic command bases. AFA would be a huge draw.

Just why would AFA leave the MW for the AAC? The football is just as good most years and travel is a lot less. Someone his another deluded myopic AAC P6 fan.

That'd be a hell of a distinction: Conference with few notable markets that nevertheless is the least likely to survive an all-out nuclear war.

MWC should just come out and claim they are a P7 conference. They would be an exact mirror of the AAC.

Tulane, Tulsa, San Jose State and UNLV are not a power conference schools. You could subtract those 4, and merge the rest of both conferences to make a Power 6 conference with 21 teams, and invite Gonzaga to be the 22nd school.

Zip, Zero, Nada.

They have a new AD and Troy Calhoun may have a say, but I do know they are intrigued by being in the same conference and division as Navy. But that is about as far as it goes. If they leave, its OK in may opinion because the rest of their sports are very weak normally.

The only reason I can see for AFA to want to join AAC is to move the Commander-in-Chief games under a conference umbrella and free up non-conference dates.
