When I first listened I only heard Laurel then I paid closer attention the second time and heard both....

Laurel was the clearer of the two but right after I heard that I heard a higher pitch yanny but more so as background

I can hear both depending what I listen for but it probably also depends on the speakers.

I can't hear Yanny even if I try really hard to convince myself that's what it's saying.

That explains why all I can hear is laurel. Years of sirens and open fire truck windows have damaged my hearing and I have trouble hearing high pitched noises.

I think both names are being said in two different recordings just put together.

As to the OP, I first heard of this on tv and it was decidedly Yanny though in a weird “voice”.

Then I was listening to the radio yesterday evening and it was laurel, Laurel, Laurel clear as a bell.

Very strange.
