It’s seriously John Bunting all over again. Perform marginally overall, but win a few marquee games and get extensions. Ugh.

Maybe the UNC players were exhausted from having to go to class. 05-stirthepot

UNC's QB did just score to bring it within 1 possession .... with about 70 seconds left.

UNC's QB: 15 of 35 for 144 yds, 1 TD, 4 INT. That's a QBR of 64. OUCH.

On the rushing side of the ledger ... 38 attempts for 164 yards and 1 TD.

Almost all the UNC offense has been in the 4th quarter.

And despite the best efforts of the Bears to give it away, UNC goes down.

Since when is a hand on the ground considered "down"?
Should've been an Alabama fumble and a Louisville touchdown!

I suppose that's not a Bama fumble either?

1-0, 0-0 On to aTm

Still haven't lost to a SoCon team since leaving the Socon.

IMO Bryant starts next week because it's a road game in a hostile environment, but from what I saw today there is zero reason why Lawrence shouldn't be the starter against Georgia Southern. The offense looked a lot more crisp with him in the game compared to Bryant.

A couple of the other true freshmen showed out. RB Lyn-J Dixon is going to be the same type weapon that Etienne was last year, and the coaches weren't lying when they said TE Braden Galloway possessing a skill set similar to Jordan Leggett, and PK BT Potter was booming the kickoffs.

Alabama can name the score. I wasn't expecting Louisville to win but I wasn't expecting it to be this lopsided.

Louisville didn't help themselves by committing so many stupid penalties. How the heck do you get multiple substitution fouls and a taunting penalty down four scores?

My apologies to all of you. Louisville did not show up and the coaching staff was not prepared. Bobby Petrino days appear to be numbered. 07-coffee3

No, it was the correct call. When the arm with the ball in it hits the ground, the ball is dead.

Had it been his other hand, without the ball, he would not have been down.

Not that it mattered anyway. Alabama was about 20 times better than Louisville.

There's no need to apologize Wilkie01. Alabama was always extremely hard to beat and that was when they were satisfied with a pedestrian QB who would just deal the ball out to other athletes. When they added the left handed Hawaiian gunslinger to the line up it just amplified the talent they had always had at the other positions. Tua takes the Tide to an entirely different but higher plateau than the rest of us and it's rather scary. I've had the privilege to despise the Tide for my entire life. This is the first time those a holes from Tuscaloosa have ever impressed me as a team. They've always had several impressive athletes, but I've never seen them this loaded.

I just hope that like the Soviet Hockey team at its zenith we have a a band of good ole U.S. kids out there somewhere to humble them!

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Richt is stepping on his crank in a big game. But so far getting housed by Farmer Fran from The Waterboy is really embarrassing.

RE: Open Thread - Week 1
That interception was so bad that I want to question if Rosier was bought off After seeing the replay from behind the QB, it was just great pass defense.

Still, the problem so far (IMO) is Miami has been too conservative on offense. This won't help open the playbook up though.

I picked an aggressive bed wetting outcome in the pick 'em. Looks like the only one I'll be wrong on is WMU over Cuse. And Babers made that one way closer than it had to be.

I thought Miami was supposed to have a great team this year.

The Coastal race may be wide open.

In 2002/03 Miami defeated three top 10 ranked teams
In 2004 they defeated two such teams
Over the next 13 years they have just three such wins. ND in 16, OU in 09, and VT in 05.

In short Miami is not "back". Of course not being "back" is better than having never been "there". What will be interesting to see is that if Miami continues to flounder, how bad will FSU get hosed against VT, because the conference will want to preserve a highly ranked team in the Coastal.
