I apologize that my school was stupid enough to hire applewhite.

Definitely get it. UCF was dumb enough to believe Brent Key could coach, and 1 0-12 later.

RE: ***Official Coogs vs the Nerds (Bayou Bucket) Game Thread***
I think it's interesting to note that AAC teams can no longer afford to attract the young, hot-shot P5 Offensive Coordinator candidate because the P5 schools now have adjusted their pay scale to pay those Coordinators in the 2 Million range to stay at the P5 schools as a Coordinator. That model was used by Memphis, UCF, USF, UH and SMU to rebuild their programs. Now AAC teams are hiring the 2nd tier candidates instead adjusting their Head Coaching pay scale above the P5 Coordinator level. It's an unappreciated but significant development in the type of candidates non-P5 schools select as head coach. AAC was developing reputation as the cradle of the young hot-shot up-and-comers. Will this new cost-containment policy be as successful?

$2m isn't actually that much money. AAC teams lose more money when they DON'T pay big money for the FB coach.
