Ouch! Well, that doesnt help.
Yup its going to be another 6 win bowl season with a terrible bowl showing all over again. Except maybe this time we can make briles the head coach and actually win games.

Our head coach is average (at best). OC is excellent. DC sucks. Replace DC. We will be fine. The guy wearing a black trash can bag on the sideline wont really matter as long as the coordinators are solid.

Well if we dont win 9 games its a done deal that applewhite is fired. The president said this year it had to be 9 or he is gone.

this loss sucsk but i dont get the implosion
it was unlikely we'd have gone undefeated (though we all hoped)
a lot of good, king had 6tds, and is averaging 6tds a game (and has yet to play an fcs), (0 turnovers all season) will likely lead the nation. and that is with numerous dropped tds
our pass defense is pure trash (and will only get worse with davis lost for the season), luckily for us we wont play another pass first team all season with memphis transitioning to a run heavy offense. except if we meet ucf in the CCG, and that would mean we made it to the CCG ..
and this post game was the 1st time ive seen applewhite actual furious at the team publicly (he normally pretends everything is okay even after loses)..maybe this brings a fire under him
oh well, take the loss and move on

Because our fan base lacks the emotional maturity to not overreact to both wins and losses. We often beat our chests a little to loud and cry chicken little too much. I'm with you as far as moving forward and enjoying the season. We still play an exciting brand of football and frankly all our goals are still out in front of us.

If we continue to play _'Onofrio's brand of ultra-conservative defense we will fall short of those goals.

Come up with a better excuse.
Take it from someone who has lived in Memphis (300ft AMSL) his whole life, and drove to Colorado Springs in one day. Altitude sickness is real.

Tech fans do the same thing. Had I been home reading the thread on RRS, I bet the usual suspects would have been advocating Kliff being fired at halftime.
Not directed at you but I LOL at the elevation comments. I live in central Texas and the elevation didn't bother me today in Lubbock.

My issue is we were told last years conservative defensive philosophy was due to limitations in our secondary personnel. We were told we upgraded the DB’s significantly. Now I see the same philosophy and the same DB performance. I’m beginning to think the explanation is backwards. The DB’s appear subpar because the QB has 6-10 seconds to throw the ball. There are few DB’s in the nation that can closely stay with a decent receiver for more than 3-4 seconds. Eventually, the receiver will get open. It’s not the DB’s subpar play making the philosophy necessary—-it’s the philosophy making the DB play subpar. Give a QB all day and he will look like Tom Brady no matter who you have in coverage.

i dont accept the elevation as an excuse becuase if i did it would mean it would be acceptable to lose to tech whenever we played at their place..i wont....thats not an acceptable excuse
with that said, elevation affects people differently.. i have plenty of friends who have to take pills every time we go to Lubbock or Colorado and can barely and move in higher elevations, anyone with sickle cell arent even allowed to travel to those games..and those guys didnt have to play in a 4hour long game, in 100 degree field temperature where both teams had over 100plays
like i said i dont accept it as an excuse and i intend for us to win the next time we are in lubbock, but i will say this is the most ive seen our defense injured in 1 game, almost every starter had to be held out at some point...both starting safties left the gaem injured, 2 starting cbs left injured ed oliver didnt play for a quarter, his backup got injured, 3 different linebackers had to be helped off the field
the environment mixed with the inhuman amount of plays definitely played a role in this game

i was just explaining this in the coogfans, thats not how it works with the air raid
im just going to copy and paste
"there is misconception and misunderstanding of techs offense (the air raid)
everyone here is saying we didnt bring pressure…that we had to pressure the qb to stop the pass
the air raid is known as the “great equalizer” for the reason that it prevents pressure from reaching the qb
the ball is out of his hands before the pressure will ever reach…in the air raid its the opposite you have to take away the short pass,to get pressure (make him hold the ball longer)…all the short passes where there all game…he wasnt hitting long passes till the second half when our dline was tired, and had 300yds at that point…at a different point in the game he had 10 consecutive completions…
in a game vs tech it is completely based on your Dbs and LBs making the Qb have to think"
a team like tech is the perfect team to exploit us, our dline strength is meaningless in a quick strike dink and dink offense, and it attacks the weakest part of our defense the dbs

No, I think the QB needs to be attacked like Orlando would do
I think about this game and all I see is bowman with all the time to just wait untill he was ready to throw
Onofrio is the reason we lost today

Agree with this one hundred percent. If we can't put pressure on the quarterback and disrupt the rhythm of the opposing offense, our chances of winning decrease, no matter how many points our offense puts up. It's pretty simple, really.

It was one of Techs last TDs where the pass was dropped perfectly into the WRs hands between two Houston DBs. In other words there was nothing any defense could have done on that play. Unfortunately y’all got TT on a perfect day for them and their style. If it’s any consolation I think TT would have beaten anyone yesterday.

Two weeks to fix the issues as best as possible in the secondary before conference play. D’Onofrio is on borrowed time at this point. His defense is still good to great against run-based teams, so USF and @Memphis should be our biggest struggles left. They have QBs that can sling it.

Not sure about that. If we had blitzed at least half the time, we would've had a better chance.
