Exactly.

One of the better tweets on that subject, came from Mark Ennis (afternoon drive time radio host on 93.9 The Ville) ...

"Louisville somehow managed to lose a bidding war against itself for Petrino."

Our record the first four seasons in The ACC: 34-18. Our conference mates: Syracuse: 22-39 (5 seasons), Pitt 34-30 (5 seasons). (Hence their lack of sympathy for our plight this season...lol.) How about Maryland that gave us our spot in The ACC by jumping to The Big Ten: 20-30 and former conference mate Rutgers: 18-31

My point is Louisville was due a season like this. I’m not saying Louisville fans can’t be po'd because our team isn’t competing like we want it to, scratch that, like we are accustomed to. What I am saying is things will get better. Louisville has a very young team. We have 4 seniors starting (3 on offense / 1 on defense) only 7 that see any amount of time. That's what happens when you send Juniors to the NFL. It hurts your upper class depth.

I'm not convinced Louisville could get anyone else to take the job replacing a coach that has averaged 9 wins a season for almost a decade that some fans want canned after a 1/3 of a bad season.

Don't get me wrong. I like Louisville and I'm glad they are in the ACC. But let's not get too carried away. They are beating the teams they are supposed to beat. In the first four years, they have beaten Syracuse 4 times, BC, NC State, Wake Forest and Virginia 3 times each. They also beat Duke (4-8), Carolina (3-9) and Miami (6-7). They beat FSU last year when the Noles had to schedule a late buy game to be bowl eligible. That's not exactly a murderer's row in conference.

Let's give it a few more years before we render judgement on the Cardinals.

Louisville has beaten every ACC team in The ACC, along with Notre Dame, they have played except Clemson.

I notice how you conveniently left off Louisville beating Orange Bowl Champion FSU by six touchdowns. Don’t let facts get in the way though...

I'm not the one cherry picking facts. I'm looking at the big picture, and that picture says that Louisville has been a good, not great team, who has earned the vast majority of its 21 conference wins against the bottom of the league. The combined W-L records (including FCS opponents) of all the the ACC teams they beat during those 4 years was 109-153 (41.6%). That's not a bad thing. But neither is it "far and away the most successful team to move up". Three teams have moved up from non-AQ conferences to the P5, and all three have been about equally successful. They have all showed that they belong in the club. It's not necessary to exaggerate to make that point.

So what you’re saying is The ACC has sucked that’s why Louisville has so many wins since joining the league....got it.

If you thought the league sucked for the last four years you are in for a real treat this year....

WTF....Three Teams?

Utah
TCU
WVU
Rutgers
Syracuse
Pittsburgh
Louisville

You sure you’re not continuing to cherry pick facts?

Going strictly off memory and what I believe to be national perception, I'd say TCU has had the most successful move to a current P5 conference. I'd put Louisville 2nd currently. That could/would change if they end up 2-10 this season.

As for ACC play, you can only play who you're scheduled to play by the conference. Thanks to the great site I linked below, with little effort I can see that since joining the conference in 2014 until today, in ACC play you have:

Clemson- .886
FSU- .657
UofL- .636
Miami- .601
Virginia Tech/Pitt/UNC- .559
Everyone else below .500

Of course Louisville and FSU appear headed for dissapointing seasons so they may be coming back to the pack. Take it for whatever it's worth.
