RE: Final AP top 25 is out
The real significance is that Texas has returned to the top ten after only two seasons under Tom Herman.

Agreed. Look out for the Longhorns as a playoff team next season.

Yeah, they don't open with Maryland next year, so that's a plus.

16 points between LSU, UGA and Florida. Doesn't surprise me that Florida is tied with Georgia, but its absurd and demonstrates why selecting teams after the bowls is the worst of all systems. UGA finished 2 games ahead with essentially the same schedule (only difference, UGA played Auburn, FL played MSU), did much better against 5 of the 7 common opponents, both won by 26 vs. TN and only did worse vs. LSU who Florida got at home with UGA playing in Baton Rouge, while beating Florida on a neutral site 36-17.
Don't like WSU ahead of UW, but at least WSU has a better overall record and they tied in conference with UW winning the head to head.

Depth is still an issue. There were some lean recruiting years.

3 way tie though with those 3 teams. And LSU and Florida won their bowl games while Georgia lost. You can't just say that it was Florida and Georgia competing with each other. LSU obviously included with those 3 and that changed the math for Georgia quite a bit.

And I don't think the bolded should matter more than the regular season. Also, while UGA lost, they lost to #9 in the final poll. LSU beat #11 and Florida beat #14.

but what about best wins outside of each other?
Georgia- #12 Kentucky, #32 Auburn
Florida- #14 Michigan, #28 Mississippi St
LSU- #11 UCF, #28 Mississippi St, #32 Auburn
It's pretty close. It's definitely far from absurd to have LSU at the top.

I don't think its absurd to have LSU at the top. I don't agree, but I do think that its close between UGA and LSU. Its Florida that is the absurd one.

When you only look at 2 games. And even in those two games, LSU won big at home over Georgia, Florida won close at home over LSU, UGA won big at a neutral site over Florida.
Florida was 2 games behind UGA in the east and they didn't get Alabama and Texas outside of the conference schedule. Florida had Michigan, Charleston Southern, Idaho, Colorado St. and FSU outside the 8 conference games.

I'm not a fan of polls in any circumstance, but clearly fans want them. I would really prefer no more polls after the regular season (including CCG's) is over. There have always been too many variables in the way schools approach bowls. But especially now with so many teams playing their bowl game with a significantly different roster than they finished the season with, the water gets too muddy for my taste. Let the final CFP poll be the last of the year.

Georgia's OOC schedule wasn't exactly stellar either. Austin Peay, Middle Tennessee, UMass, Georgia Tech, and Texas.
Sorry but this isn't that crazy of a final result. Florida probably of the 3 the most impressive in bowl games, and Georgia by far the least impressive of the 3.

RE: Final AP top 25 is out
128 team playoff. Only solution. No polls! #127 vs #130 fight for the 127th spot, and #128 vs #129 fight for 128th spot in play-in games!
Problem solved! No polls!!
Dec 8th - Play-In Games for the Worst 4 teams
Dec 13-15th - 1st Round of 128
Dec 19-22nd - 2nd Round of 64
Dec 27-29th - 3rd Round of 32 (16 Bowls)
Jan 4th-5th - Sweet 16 (8 Bowls)
Jan 12th - Final 4!!
Jan 21st - National Championship Game
