But it essentially needs a 22 date schedule instead of 18. But 11 is really horrible for all the other sports in the conference, especially the ones that use travel partners.
The team sports other than the mandatory M&W Basketball that have all the schools in it are softball and W volleyball. Baseball is 8, M soccer is 7, W soccer is 8.
I don't think it's any more of an issue for W volleyball than for W BBall, so it really boils down to whether extra difficulty scheduling Softball is a roadblock.
Volleyball and women's basketball is the biggest stumble in a 11 team conference. Those are the two sports that use travel partners.
11 team scheduling for men's basketball is a major problem in well with venue availability (2 of the schools rent public arenas) and referees. MVC is in the same rotation with top officials who do the Big Ten and Big 12 games. Not to mention tv partners with ESPN, CBSSN and FOX Sports Midwest. And the conference tournament is a week earlier with a major broadcast tv deal. That eliminates an entire week of the schedule earlier.
MVC going to 11 isn't like a low major like the Big Sky doing it. There is a lot more variables involved.

RE: MVC Expansion Talks
If Wayne St is an option why not GVSU for the Valley.
Football stadium is building out to 20k which is their top attendance game.
Nice arena good support always near the top in D2 all sports standings.
They could pair with Ferris St in the Summit as travel partners.
Five Dakota schools Denver , Omaha, Northern Colorado and the two Michigan schools would be fairly tight.
I know two Minnesota schools would make more sense.
The two Michigan schools would work because they would be good travel partners.
My thought on this is no travel partners should be more than five hours apart.

Playing with schools who keeps blocking you from getting better? That is why the better basketball schools left while you gain some schools that are not pulling their weight namely the private schools. You gain several strong D2 football members, a strong football members for UCA and a strong basketball schools from Michigan and a strong football at times from Indianapolis. They might just join the MVC and put their football in Pioneer. Replace Indianapolis with Stony Brook for all sports.

Hillsdale College only has 1400 students. Not too mention it would be toxic to the public schools plus the secular privates
Didn’t know Oakland was a public college. I thought they were a private for certain. Never heard of Hillsdale College. I guess U of Detroit-Mercy is the only realistic option.

RE: MVC Expansion Talks
Other tban perhaps money, is there anything in moving to the MVC for UDM? The Valley doesn’t have any other schools in Michigan or Ohio, so I think that could be a drawback.

I like reaingy the messages first and then looking at the author. After reading the nonsensical setup above, I of course guessed the author correctly.

substitute Nebraska-Omaha for Colorado Mesa...have UNO just restart football...

RE: MVC Expansion Talks
Geographically, Western Illinois would fit in perfectly with the MVC. Since Detroit and Belmont are pretty much the only two private school options, the MVC may not be expanding for awhile

RE: MVC Expansion Talks
Most of you have no clue about the MVC when it comes to expansion. This has to be another private school to balance out isn't true. They would take a public I-AAA school if it fit ie UIC, Milwaukee, etc. Also FCS football is not going to drive the expansion bus especially in the MVC. Not to mention the Summit league football schools especially WIU and the two big dogs NDSU and SDSU love the MVFC banner and not going to rock the boat.

Went to Western Hall when Chicago State played there in December. If you walked in blindfolded and removed it when you sat down, you might think Western Illinois plays basketball in a garage. Leathernecks fit well with those schools for football.
I did heed Greg Kampe’s advice (famous little viewed YouTube video from 2012 where he couldn’t resist their chicken wings) and didn’t regret eating at Sunrise Family Restaurant.

Yeah MVC is a conference with 10 basketball-first schools. I don’t think people really understand the league.

As much as I would like to see UNO football again, they money is not there and the wounds are too fresh. UNO's athletic department still has a lot of work to do. Facilities for baseball, softball, and track aren't good. UNO's finances depend on making money on hockey- and they're not having a good season this year. The only way football comes back is if someone "endows" the sport. Even then, they need to put the money in other places first.
The truth is UNO football really wasn't strongly supported by the community. They had some good teams, some good games, and some good crowds. But if I remember their consistent average was like 4000. Husker football dominates the interest around here. And football generally isn't successful at urban branch campuses, see UI-C, UW-M, UA-LR, UMass-Boston, etc. UNLV has been terrible. UT-Chattanooga has good teams. UA-B is miraculous. I'm putting the Texas and California schools in different category because of their state's high population.
Nope, UNO football ain't coming back.

Oh I knew WIU doesnt have a shot at the MVC right now. Just pointing out the MVC is the conference that makes the most geographic sense for them
