Originally signed a national letter of intent with UAB in the fall of 2017, but was released from the NLI to join the Memphis program and reunite with Lomax and coach Penny Hardaway. Is the son of Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway. . . . During the 2016-17 season, he played at East High in Memphis and contributed to the team's 2017 Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Class AAA state championship. . . . He played last season for IMG Academy's post-graduate team in Bradenton, Florida. . . . Scored 25 points in a 126-123 win over Miami Dade Community College in November 2017. . . . Before attending East High during the 2016-17 season, he spent his junior season at Miami Palmetto, where he averaged 12.1 points per game. At Palmetto, he wore jersey No. 1, the same number his father wore played for the NBA's Orlando Magic in the 1990s.
David Wingett (injured) 6-7 / 200 G/F (3*)
Wingett led Winnebago (Nebraska) High School to the 2015 Class C-1 state championship and averaged 20.8 points and 4.9 rebounds during his career. . . . He finished his career at Winnebago as the second-leading scorer in Nebraska prep history with more than 2,200 points. . . . A left-handed shooter, he is a Native American and a member of the Winnebago Tribe. . . . He spent a post-graduate year last season at Bull City Prep Academy in Durham, N.C., where he averaged 25.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. . . . . . At Bull City, he was an effective shooter from beyond the arc, where he shot 47 percent. In a Nov. 18 victory over Orangeburg Prep Academy (S.C.), Wingett went 8-of-8 from three-point range.
