I think they should be in but the committee kept SMU out a few years ago when they were ranked & I think the new emphasis on NET hurts Temple.

Their loss to ECU in the tournament will be what keeps them out. 07-coffee3

if someone other than Houston, Cincy, UCF, or Temple wins the AAC tourney I could see them pulling some BS on Temple to keep the AAC at 4 bids.

I know you are jesting to a degree but if that happens they won't get in. Conversely, they may survive a loss to an improving WSU squad.

SMU had a postseason ban the year they finished the season ranked but didn't participate in the NCAA tournament.

I believe Temple is in now but it’s squishy. If Temple wins one tournament game we are a lock.

Which was decent bubble year and a weak resume.

Temple is in so long as they lose to a top 100 team and aren't blown out. A blow out or an ECU loss will put them on the edge.

RE: Does Temple need to win a game in the AAC tourney to be safely in the Big Dance?
Temple should be safely in, but considering how the selection committee tends to be a bunch of P5 teatsuckers, they probably need to win that first one to secure a bid.

That said, TGIH we are in the American now, a conference that gets to grouse over multiple bids. If we were still in the Valley, we would be wondering what craptacular seed the conference autobid team would be getting. And after watching a little bit of the Valley tournament on TV over the weekend, I can certainly say the hoops are MUCH more fun to watch in our new conference home! The Houston-UC game was a grown ass man's game through and through.

Uh-oh. Wichita may drop below 100 after beating ECU.

They aren't a lock...but should safely be in if they make the finals. I think they'll be in if the win a game, but 2-6 against Q1 with both wins being at home isn't exactly a slam dunk. Lost the first game and they'll really be sweating.

Simply because the committee has consistently under-seeded and snubbed the league since day 1 I'm going to say if they lose game 1 they get left out for some P5 school with like 14-15 losses.

I think they're in if they win the first game. They did themselves a favor by moving up to the 3 seed. If they lose, I think it's touch and go.

Temple should be in based on merit. However, I do not underestimate the machinations and motivations of the Selection Committee to protect and promote P-5 schools like Indiana.

True. Depends on how much they win by. Of course beating Temple puts them way back in the top 100.

If you just try and go through by wins and losses to bid outcomes it's pretty hard to keep temple out. It's really just a couple situations that would leave them out. A close loss to Wichita on a neutral floor isn't one.

Get blown out and their ranking will drop. Lose to ECU and it's a bad loss, a ranking drop, and something recent the committee will have in the back of their mind if it comes down to Temple and a few other teams for the last couple spots.

Good point; it is what the whole NET thing was about.

Someone showed the other day the list of 19 teams ranked +15 in the NET over the RPI all P5........every. single. one.

19 teams who had -15 rankings from NET to RPI, almost entirely mid-majors.

I predict that the bids going out to several teams with clearly sub .500 conference records will lead to the first ever hard criteria for at-larges. The schools are realizing that the NCAA has learned to play the stats better than the schools were in the RPI, so the obvious solution is to make a cut not dependent on ranking to eliminate the issue of made to fit bids.

Considering the resumes of some of the schools on the bubble, Temple better be in no matter what. Bunch of trash on the bubble this year.
