What's so bad about being born between 1946-1964?
In this context, Boomer is almost more of a mentality. It just happens to be most prevalent in that generation.
You say it as if Millenials, as a generation, haven't been the subject of great derision for years now. What's so bad about being born between 1980 and 1995?
There's no such thing as a boomer mentality. Plenty of boomers with wide varying ideas/values...
1) I didn't say there "is a Boomer mentality", I said Boomerism is almost more of a mentality".
2) I didn't say all Boomers have it, nor did I say only
Boomers have it.
3) Ok Boomer...
Okay. What is "boomerism" precisely?
"Precisely"? I don't know that Boomerism could be defined precisely, but I'm happy to provide examples:
Boomerism is complaining about other people speaking languages other than English in 'Merica.
Boomerism is calling any MSM outlet they disagree with "FAKE NEWS" but sharing sheer nonsense from outlets like realpatriotnews dot com or Breitbart, Daily Caller, Infowars etc or obviously faked photoshopped tweets photos, basically the instant share of anything that confirms their bias with no thought to fact checking.
Boomerism is calling fact checking fake news.
Boomerism is an odd love of minions in memes.
Boomerism is making ridiculous unsupported claims and insisting those who question those claims are lazy for not "doing their own research" when they ask for citation.
Boomerism is constantly critiquing Millenials/Gen Z for being phone/tech obsessed, until the next time you need help opening a file or getting your camera out of selfie mode.
Boomerism is a strange fascination with writing in cursive, manual transmissions, and rotary phones and talking about how sad it is when millenials can't handle any of that, when most of us are in our thirties now and definitely grew up with all of those still in regular use, it's gen Z and younger that have barely grown up with any of that, but asking a Gen Z to dial a rotary phone would be like asking a Boomer to crank start a model T.
Boomerism is blaming the generation that grew up with participation trophies on us, as if we somehow made that decision as children.
Boomerism is spending the last decade or so blaming everything on millenials and all the industries we're killing(like ****** chain restaurants), calling people snowflakes and asking people if they need a safe space, only to right whiny op eds about "Ok Boomer" or having the sheer audacity to call "Boomer" the ageist equivalent of the N-word.
These are a handful of the top of my head, not any of these are true of all Boomers, none of them are exclusive to Boomers, but Baby Boomers are indeed most likely to engage in these behaviors.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
