FBS fall ball is dead as well, just a matter of time.

In conference realignment, "S**t rolls downhill."

In canceling games/seasons, apparently it rolls uphill.

C-USA/SB will be next, then MW, then AAC, then Big 12, Pac-12, ACC, and finally B1G/SEC.

RE: MAC not playing at all in the fall
FBS will get in some games—but I don’t see a fall season being completed. The spring should be even worse with flu season hitting its peak along with Covid. Heck, the most deadly wave of Covid so far was NY in the Spring. I think the only hope for a return to normal for bars and large crowd events like concerts/major sports is a vaccine or some kind of breakthrough treatment that lowers the death rate to the typical flu.

Spring Football is a Pipe Dream, will never happen.

Any conference saying they will play in Spring is fooling themselves.

The FCS can probably pull it off because they make nothing from TV.

Author suggests MAC needs to take a hard look at what it is doing in football, whether than be FCS or limiting costs in FBS.

If you are playing 3 buy games as Kent St. does (as noted in the article), you shouldn't be in FBS.

"Can confirm the Stadium report that the MAC has cancelled football this fall. MAC presidents had a call at 9 a.m. this morning, and the finances didn't make sense anymore. The league had just 5 buy games with Power 5 schools remaining. Look for the spring option to be explored."

McMurphy thinks this will snowball. We're already now at 10% of FBS not playing.

Too bad that Navy just signed a new deal 2 days ago with BYU to replace ND.

I agree.

And honestly even if they could squeeze in an 8 game schedule I don’t even think it’s worth it because it only throws off the 2021 schedule and would likely lead to a later start and/or fewer games then

I’d rather have nothing in 2020 and have 2021 start on time and play a full 12 games plus bowl

RE: MAC not playing at all in the fall
Curious how much of the decision is based on “health & safety” versus “financial” concerns. Both factors are referenced by McMurphy.

The BIG and SEC decisions to go to conference-only competition is making it easier for other FBS schools to cancel games.

The MWC and Independents will be next. The MWC has Hawaii out on an island, the California system to deal with, Colorado State scandal, and the PAC isn't playing OOC games, so they have no regional options.

Independents like NMSU and UMass are going to find it almost impossible to find replacements to fill their home schedules.
