There's no way TV money justifies this. If there were 6 C-USA schools worth even 1/2 of the current AAC TV deal they wouldn't be making like 500k per team. Is Aresco a complete idiot or what?

This is all about markets in the south. The conference becomes the metro conference which isn’t a bad thing.

I don’t get the UNT bashing here. UCF was a young program like UNT is and they thrived here.

OCS recently built seats somewhere around 30k and the few times I’ve been there it had more fans than temple USF Tulane or Tulsa drew.. Great town in Denton close to DFW area. Big enrollment. Big potential. Just renovated basketball arena and built an indoor practice facility on par with anything in the AAC.

If you’re looking for a young program in a good market with the resources and support to compete and rise up as a power that’s UNT. Honestly a few programs in the AAC will be behind in recruiting in the near future to UNT.

Well, looks like the AAC board is FULLY on-board with this move...

That Aresco contract extension was one of the dumbest moves I've ever seen.

This is literally a move for additional recruiting bases. Big cities mean nothing in the context of TV $ these days, but it allows teams to recruit more easily. Guarantee you Navy was a driving force behind this - Navy wants back into West/East division format, specifically the West. These teams ensure that Navy will play a road game in DFW every year and then a road game in either San Antonio or Houston. Navy is not going to recruit West Virginia, El Paso, Boone, Conway or Hattiesburg.

At this point, it's the Big 12's move to wait and see if they want SMU, Memphis, etc. There's no other option - either Big 12 or stay in the AAC. SEC is not ringing anyone's number.
